AQHA Youth World Show Results

Firstly, sorry it's taken me so long to report back to you guys about it. I've been waiting for my show photo cd to come back in the mail, lol. I got it.

Youth World was an amazing experience, I want to show there again and again and again. <3 When I was running in I was thinking, "Omg, I can't believe I'm here. This is so awesome." and feeling completely euphoric.

My run overall was not the best run, but some of the pieces of the pattern were the best that Player and I have ever done. Like omg, my stops. He attacked the ground, it was awesome. In the circles, unfortunately he shied away from the judges' chairs, there were five pairs of judges and scribes. He didn't do anything drastic, but he just cut the areas where the chairs for really badly. They didn't have the chairs in until the day of my class, so Player never got used to them. Terry said if I had run him a little faster in my large fast, he would have probably not of paid much attention to him. Then he came down beautifully in both of the small slow circles, best he has ever had. One of my lead changes was also a stride or two early from the middle. My scores were:

"J1: 67.0 J2: 68.0 J3: 67.5 J4: 66.0 J5: 68.0 Total Score: 202.5"

The high and low scores are cut off and the middle three scores are added together. Not the greatest, but I'm still really proud of him. That was our first time at youth world and we'll come back stronger for next year. We've been working on quite a bit already and he's still getting better and better. I'm excited for the High Roller Classic which I'm showing at a couple weeks from today.

My friend Becca got 5th in the go round and 10th in the finals. I thought that was pretty awesome. She missed the finals on her other horse by a point. It was a really tough go round for everyone was running all out and then I noticed quite a few finalists ran out of steam the next day on finals night, but I don't blame them for it was the evening right after they ran hard in the prelims. They were all really good though.

Pro photos:

:Player looks so awesome in this picture, but my collapsed torso revealing my three displaced vertibrae+weird shirt angle=not pretty, lol. My back's not that bad if I am conscious of my posture. I love the way Player looks though.

I have photos that I've taken myself but I gotta get them off my mom's camera and upload them (there's quite a few). They'll be coming soon!

You two are an AWESOME team. I LOVE that first picture. IMO, that is reining. Horse and rider working HARD together - and enjoying it immensely.

I've never tried reining, but I will someday. I would LOVE to ride a good reiner and slide, spin, etc. Watching a good one sends chills down my back.

Is it hard to stay in the saddle when your horse slides? I know you're supposed to sit very deep but I find it hard to sit stops without my high-backed barrel saddle!

Thank you! =D

I get chills watching a good horse/rider combination as well. I never get bored watching it.

Sitting stops took a lot of practice for me, and there have been plenty of times where you could have seen daylight between the seat of the saddle and my bum. Oh, but I love it when you feel the horse build of to immense speeds and then with a shift of your body position and one simple word causes the horse to bury itself into the ground and slide long distances. It's a lot of fun. I hope you get to experience it one day.
