AQHA Stud *Update* Nevermind...

Boondoc Playboy Quarter Horse

Does this guy have anything special going on? Or can anyone tell me anything about his bloodlines, save the obvious Doc Bar?

Thanks

Well, he's bred to be a cutting horse through and throught. As you said the Doc Bar connection, but you've got Freckles Playboy (big cutter stud), Doc Olena (there's your Lena tie), Docs Sug (Sug horses are hot in the cutting pen too), Boon Bar (cutter stud) so he is cutting horse heavy and should be in the cutting pen.

Thank you! Now, if someone were looking for a cutter, would this be a GOOD quality cutting horse pedigree? (I'm not looking for a cutter, but this is hypothetical)

He's being shown this year in heeling and tie down roping.

This would be a very decent cutting pedigree. And, roping is a good place for these lines too. I saw King Hankins Two, who goes back to King and Hyglo (out of a TB) who are often found on the Rodeo rope horse peds. And he's got Poco in there as well, which is also the cowy tie.

So yes, he's doing what he should be doing and crossing him with cutting mares would keep you in the "pedigree area" for cutting horses.

Thanks again.

Here's another question. A cross between a well-bred cutting/roping horse at 14.3h and a proven eventing/dressage throughbred at just under 16h....would it have a home? (Providing the horses compliment each other conformationally and in every other way)

I want something versatile-- western, english, jumping, trail, and who knows if I'll get into rodeo events? It doesn't have to be a star at one certain discipline, but capable to do almost anything at a low level. I want to be able to show AQHA or APHA rather than rated Hunter/Jumper or dressage.

You could very well get an excellent WP/ H/J horse with that cross and HUS is in there too with size. You'll probably end up with the upper range of 15.3-16.1 hand horse and it will be Appendix, but since you are going to plan on showing him/her, you could easily ROM out to full registry. I don't remember how your girl looks, but QH/TB is the way to go right now for the "show classes". I wouldn't be adverse to breeding this way for what you want and there will be a market for a correct Appendix foal/horse. The performance market is much better than the halter market right now, unless you are breeding top names. Do you have a picture of the stud? I'd love to see him.

Agreed! He's got a nice pedigree on him. (I know a Sugs Chita daughter- really a nice mare.)
I think doublebarr hit all of the names and as far as discipline wise- got that down too.

Thanks for all your help guys! This is the only decent picture I have of him so far. You can't tell much, but I really like his legs, even from this angle. He's wide where my mare is narrow. I'm interested to see more pictures, that's for sure.

A quick couple pics of my mare:

I think this is the one guys!

Unless I can't get the trailer, I'm taking Queen up to this ranch on Sunday! Queen will get a 50x100 grassy paddock with a 15x15 cover to herself or an acre pasture with one or two other mares!

She really didn't want a TB mare ("I'm going to campaign the foal in working cowhorse and that would be hard with a 1/2 TB") but once I showed her some conformation shots she completely changed her mind.

More pics in next post...I'd love opinions!
