AQHA People, what do you think of this Stud as a prospect?

I'm still looking around and considering studs. I like to browse and see what's out there. A previous poster pricked my interest and after some looking around I found this ad. Just thought I'd share, but no tearing the horse apart, as he isn't mine. Just what do you think of him in general and for your viewing discression. I did look him up on AQHA and he does not have any show record at all with AQHA or any affiliates like NCHA or NRHA, so that kind of puts me off. But he could have potential as he's not put together bad, just not shown to the best of his potential.

I think you can find better for the money...there is a buckskin son of Smart Chic Olena in Elgin Texas with some AQHA points...you can breed to him for $600, I think she is offering free breeding to $$ earning or producing mares this year. There is also a very nice producing Son of Reminic in Duluth, MN. I have bought many colts out of him and they are uniform in confirmation, attitude and trainability. I think they get $1000 to breed to him. If you want more info on either let me know.

OHHH, I'd love to know more about the Smart Chic Olena stud. I've got a lovely Peppy mare that I know would cross well with that type of line. Wouldn't mind looking at the Reminic horse either. Thanks CD. I'm always on the lookout for strong producing studs.

Well personally, I think there's alot of Bay studs out there that are at least as nice as him, if not nicer with a proven track record, either in the arena or in the breeding shed. Nice pedigree, but the ones that are selling for good money are the OWN sons of or own daughters of. Now if this guy had a show record or a progeny record, I'd maybe look at him. But they need a better photo of him, that's for sure.

There's a nice Grulla QH stud here in Az (think he's still here) that's done decent. Elderberry Boot.

I don't see anything about him that I don't like, but there isn't much to go on. I would like to see better pics, and pics of his foals.

LOL, Love the name. I'll have to look him up and see what I see. Love good looking, athletic Grulla QH's. Thanks Acme.

TP - I did a check on foal records and there were no foals with show points or money earned.

He definitely has some good blood behind him. I think he's just ok, though. There's really nothing about him that wows me or stands out in particular. Kind of an average Joe looking fella that has some wonderful potential though.

I know I'm an "Arab" person but I also follow QH's (I have a fantasy of being able to afford a breeding to Reminic and breed Dancer to him for an INCREDIBLE 1/2 Arabian reining/cutting horse I saw Reminic in person once and just dropped my jaw, he was just one of those OMG WOOOOOOOOWW!.....

SO with that said, The bay that you showed honestly is an OK boy, nothing 'wrong' with him (other then TERRIBLE photo used, lol) but also nothing that makes you think 'this boy NEEDS to be a stud' For ME, he is a nice looking gelding.

Ya, know Wyldterv, that's exactly what I was thinking. He'd make a wonderful looking gelding.
