AQHA paper transfer question...

I have a friend who recently purchased a young AQHA mare. They're new horse owners and this mare is just 3 and has only had 30 days riding a year ago or so leaving them with a horse that they couldn't do anything with. The seller more or less fed them to the wolves saying they'd help the new owner work with her and that never happened. Fast forward a few months, they realize they're in over their head and are wanting to sell her. I've offered to come out and help take some photos and video of her to start advertising her, but I cannot help her with the registration as I have no experience with the AQHA - only a bit of experience with dairy goat association, the ADGA. The original seller has signed the registration transferring her; we're just not sure if that paper can be handed over to the new owner or how it will have to be handled. My friend says she hasn't done anything with the paper since receiving it. I didn't know if you had to fill in the buyer when you sold the horse & the buyer had to pay to transfer ownership to their name or if he just signed that the horse was transferred and the papers can be handed over to the next buyer w/out my friend having to do anything.

Would appreciate any feedback as to how this should be handled.

Thanks!

Were the papers completely filled out stating your friend as the buyer?

If they never signed it (they being the people who bought her) and the seller has signed where they need to then all that needs to be done is handing the paperwork over to the new buyers. I have had that happen to me several times.
