Question AQHA and APHA shows..??

I have always wondered about this.

At an APHA and an AQHA show

Do you get points on what place you come in?
Is each placing is a different about of points?

I was in a club that did points, this was their way
1st- 6pts
2nd- 5pts
3rd- 4pts
4th- 3pts
5th- 2pts
6th- 1 pt

Is it like that??
Or something completely different.

__________

Also another question.....(not really important, just curious)

When you show at APHA or AQHA shows, do they not give out ribbons?

I went to watch an AQHA shows and they didnt give out ribbons they gave out fake money that could by food at the concession stand. Is ever show AQHA/APHA like that?

Thanks,
Nicole

I dont know about apha points, but this is how AQHA points work.

For every 5 horses, the points increase by one. So if there were 1-4 horses in the class, the 1st place horse would get .5 point, none of the other horses get anything.

5-9 horses: 1st- 1 point, 2nd- .5 point
10-14 horses: 1st- 2 points 2- 1 point, 3rd-.5 point

It continues to go on like that until there are over 45 horses in the class (making it a 9 point class). They don't award more then 9 points per class, even if there are 200 people in the class the first place winner only gets 9 points.

Most of the time in AQHA shows there is more than one judge, making multiple sets of points. So if there are 2 judges with 10 horses in the class and you place 1st under one judge and 2nd under the other, you will get 3 points total.

Make sense?

And yes they give out ribbons at AQHA shows, most of the time you have to go to the awards office and pick them up though. They don't usually just hand them out to you after your class.
