Red face Appraise Vinny? (Hano x Selle)

Based on this information, what would you price him at?

Vinny or "Beans" (Reg. Roosevelt)
5 yrs old
Hanoverian x Selle Francais
By Roskof, out of a Wodan mare
Registered
16.2 at the beginning of summer, but has grown since
Chestnut Sabino
- I don't know if his original price will matter much at this point in time, but as an untouched yearling (he had socialized briefly with people) I paid $3,500 from a breeder who had purchased the mare to get him in a package deal
Sire ((Roskof))

Dam-Sire ((Wodan, Hanoverian))

* Unfortunately, due to a farrier error, as soon as we arrived to our new property after the show this past spring, he was lame for 2 weeks, got shoes and ridden for a couple weeks until he lost one... and after finally being sound after his shoes, had a couple severe allergic reactions which put him out of work for the most part for the rest of the summer until now. So we haven't been able to progress much this summer so here is where we were at the beginning of the summer, coming 5yrs old.

- upward transitions.. walk to trot to canter
- downward transitions.. canter to trot to walk
- walk to canter
- canter to halt
- halt to canter
- leg yielding
- shoulder fore
- LOTS of circles... increasing and decreasing in size
- ground and raised trot poles
- lengthening gaits (walk, trot, and canter)
- building up stamina... lots of trotting out on the race track
- bending and flex
- giving shoulder and haunches
- lunge jumped 1ft to about 4'0.. tons of potential, lots of scope
- Started over fences to 2'0 (brave, forward, and loves it)

~ great for the farrier
~ awesome feet, seriously never had a crack or chip (minus the farrier this summer. his feet are still incredible now)
~ UTD on everything
~ loads, trailers, clips, bathes, good for shots, great manners

* He attended a dressage clinic in March '09, it was a new place, and our first "feild trip" to a day activity, he was a super star through all of the commotion of new horses and a new place (still as a 4 yr old)

* Had his first official schooling show in May '09, and won both of his classes against school horses and horses that had been trained on the property (we shipped in the night before). He got an awful lot of attention, being "orange" and all lol.
this summer after sitting around for a month dealing with the farrier removing all his wall and needing shoes

Photo's
((I don't have any good riding photos, I'm the photographer so no ones usually around to take photos of me riding lol))

at our March clinic

he has the most incredible canter.. uphill, and ground covering. Very powerful

the only good trot photo I have.. from Feb '09ish. He doesn't have the biggest, most naturally flashy trot.. but his walk, canter, and jump sure make up for it.

This summer after being lame for 2 weeks, and getting his shiney new shoes on and feeling great...

Lunge Jumping
First year

bad angle lol... sorry for the lunge whip getting in it

first session of the year, late last year

Please let me know your thoughts.. Any comments are appreciated

hmmm...
Hard to say.
I don't want to insult you or your lovely LOVELY horse.
I think you could easily sell him for 10k, may have to wait for 15k but you could get as high as 20k (or higher... heck I dunno) with the right video and photos and documentation of his jump.

I'll meet you half way and give you $5000.00
He is lovely. IMO

oh geez, I meant to add photos of him jumping as well. I'll go looking for those right now...

I'm only asking because I'm curious, hamerface, why would you think that I would be insulted by that price range? I've been told by people I know (friends, so pretty biased lol) that I could get such amounts, but that's part of the reason why I posted him on here as well.. I want to see what is realistic

shenanigans... SOLD, fat-head and all. lmfao. :P

WOW he is gorgeous! I have no clue how much he would be worth but I'd guess easily 15k.

He's definitely more advanced than my 5yr old. LOL

He is a gorgeous horse! WOW! I would definitely say that you could get $10 - 12,000, even in the current horse market. And that is without the pictures of him free jumping and a better trot picture. With those, the price should only go up from there.

The only downside on the price is the allergy issue. Does your vet think that these issues are completely under control? I would just worry as a potential buyer if they were "seasonal" types of allergies that they would potentially cut into the horse's show season ...

jumping photos added

The allergy issue was actually out of no where, and it ended up to be a bee sting that cause swelling in the side of his throat that we initially assumed to be a guttural pouch issue, but was gone within a couple days. I was keeping him out of work to make sure that was all it was. But, he was out of work none the less lmao.. which has caused us to end up behind for our goals this year. I was hoping to get to an over fences show, or a jumping clinic.. which didn't happen, so our goals just changed slightly lol

I am still probably standing on my previous estimate of roughly $12,000 for him. One issue that may influence this is the market where you are looking to sell him. From what I can understand, Roskof is a much more marketable or known name in Canada than in the U.S.? (Is that right ...)

He definitely seems to have a scopey jump and looks like he enjoys what he is doing, but the jumping pictures are very hard to truly assess. Number 1 is taken from a long ways away (so details are hard to see); number 2 like you already mentioned is from a not particularly flattering angle and number 3 is just not as flattering as it could have been for your gorgeous horse ...

Ultimately, down the road, do you see him as a jumper or more of an eventer?

I would say you wouldn't have much of a problem getting him sold for 10k very rapidly And the number could easily go higher if the buyer was out there. Put some more shows under his belt and it will increase dramatically.
