Apple cider vinegar?

So I've heard of feeding/spraying apple cider vinegar to repel flies?

How much would you have to feed?
Is it dangerous? (I'm guessing its not, just want to make sure)

We tried feeding it last summer, and our boys absolutely would not eat their feed with the ACV on it. I spray it on mixed with water and Blue Dawn. Works pretty well for flyspray.

I think I fed about 3/4 of a cup to my old horse and it worked well- I believe it also helps dissolve minerals and prevent some type of colic but not 100% sure... new guy won't eat it either though.

Blue dawn as in the dish detergent? That doesn't irritate their skin to have that sitting on them? I'm just curious - sounds like a really cheap flyspray and a good way to keep them a bit cleaner What are the proportions of vinegar/water/dawn that you use?

I put it in my water troughs. It keeps them cleaner, and they drink it that way. I dump between 2 and 4 cups into each trough.

I love it-great stuffs.

I usually feed about 1/4 of a cup to the average horse.

Do a search for more info. There are TONS of threads about vinegar, as it has been widely discussed on this forum.
