If you bought it in April (when in April though?) and she's not been on since the beginning of May, I'd be more inclined to think that something has happened on her end (perhaps no internet service, though that's still not a 'good' excuse if she already had your shipping info).

Situations like this are very unfortunate. I remember when we bought/sold on here without so much as a second thought. Now I'm having problems selling anything, and I hate to turn to ebay

So sad when a few members ruin it for all.

Sellers like that make me so mad. I bought a saddle off Ebay and have always had good experiences in the past. However the seller refused to send me any emails and it took me almost 2 months to get my $1500 saddle. I had to file a complaint with paypal and then I got an email from someone claiming to be the sellers friend and she would go pick up the saddle and send it out next day. I did finally get it but thought I was out money for sure.

I sell a lot of things online including supplements and tack. I always send out at least within 2 days of payment being received and always try to get them out next day if possible. I guess I just assume everyone works this way but unfortunately they do not.

Sorry for those of you that have lost money with dishonest sellers.

What can one do with this information? Can it be reported as mail fraud?

Yes, this can and is treated as fraud. First get a copy of your cancelled check from the bank. It will have their signature endorsement on the back. Go to your local law enforcement and let them know the address and all the info as to where the check was sent (that's why a copy of the cancelled check) and they will contact the law enforcement in that area to see if such a person even exists. There may even be other cases out there. If there is still a copy of the ad also print that and show it to them.

I am on another forum (not horse related) and they have actually gotten their item or money back once the dishonest seller is faced with jail time.

I am experiencing a bit of the same thing with someone one here. I am giving them a last chance. I have sent my money right away in good faith and have receipts showing they received it and have still not received the item that was supposed to be sent "right away". And this person had decent feedback on the good buyer/seller thread.

On my other forum people are not allowed to advertise or even buy on the for sale threads until they have been on for a certain amount of time and have a certain number of posts. Plus if someone becomes dishonest the mods remove access to the selling threads and contacts the person letting them know they have a matter to resolve.

I just want people to know I have not had any problems on here as a buyer. I think if you stick to those that are on here on a regular basis your in a better position.

I think it would be a good idea to ask the seller for some references on here. Thats what I did and it helped. I luckly havent had any problems but I have been worried about getting ripped off. Good luck on getting your money back.

Yes... excellent!! It is so easy to forget about the mail fraud laws, but they can be pretty powerful!
