Anyone use a Chiropractor?

I have an appt for Dubie on Thursday morning. His back has been a little "off" since he cast himself.

So who has used one and how did it work out?

I have used one before. They are really good! The only problem is once you start you can't stop...so you have to get your horse done ever 3-6 months. and it can get expensive.
Right after you get it done...your horse's movements are free and he feels so much better!

The good ones are fantastic. The bad ones are either worthless or worse than worthless. I would never use one without a highly regarded referral, as in either many folks have used the person for more than just "he's a little off" issues, with success, or at least 1 person has used the chiro for some serious issues that have been successfully resolved.

We have one that comes to our barn regularly. She has really helped a lot of our horses. My mare had a serious adjustment after she took a fall in the trailer...

I use one, $50 every six months (unless I need him for something specific) is well worth it to me. He comes from 2 hours away and is the best in the area. And, he is honest and won't charge you if your horse doesn't need adjustment.

got one coming tomorrow for my colt that fell a time or two while overexuberantly playing. i researched this person to death, and took into account who had what to say about her. as JB says, the good ones are fantastic, anything less is a disaster looking for a place to happen.

I use one for both Maillet and Diamond.

Diamond - Always throws her hips out, which you can tell. But after our Chiropractor (who also is a vet good deal) adjusts her you can totally tell the difference.

Mister Maillet - Throws his knees out, ribs, C4, C5, C6 on his neck always needs to be adjusted. His poll and whatever else. I love it. I know why I see my human chiropractor I feel much better.

Even though a visit is 95 dollars per horse! WHICH IS KILLER! But its worth every penny!

how dramatic the realignment is will directly effect how long it takes, IF, to hold the new alignment on its own. muscle memoury and etc. i tend to lean toward the school of thought that with proper adjustment, followed by theraputic exercise and (this one's for you, JB..)"chiropractic riding", a horse with minour /common issues could be maintained for a significant amount of time. easier for some horses, mor edifficult for others. i will know more tomorrow ; )
