| Full Member | Anyone own a Clydesdale/TB Cross? Just wondering if anyone on the forums owns a Clyde/TB cross? I would love some pictures.... Please no TB/Other Draft crosses here, I just want to see a Clyde/TB We have one coming in for training next month, and I've worked with other TB/Drafts but not this exact mix..just wondering how they are put together etc etc.... | Senior Member | A friend just sold her Clyde Tb cross...He was a great mover but not bold over fences at all.. A real chicken with some stuff..But a nice dressage horse..He was sold once but when the vet took x rays said he had a weird shaped navicular bone which the vet said is common in heavy crosses....So for that reason he was labelled as a problem and harder to sell....Never took a lame step though... |

| Full Member | Hmm...We are taking him in for Jump Training, he is a 6 yr old stud, but according to his owner he acts like a gentlemen. From what his owner has told me so far, he has strong legs, Correct conformation, and has the "Warmblood" look to him rather than the clumpy draft look... So I am hoping when he walks off the trailer in a couple weeks, he is not some big drafty thinng, but rather the elegant, refined "Warmblood" type as she so describes! |

| Senior Member+ | people could post away picture after picture, unfortunately a lot of what a horse ends up looking like is random, because you cannot choose genes when breeding. So if you cross a TB and Clyde, you could get a big footed, long legged, big chested, small hipped horse that is no thicker in body mass than a TB. Or you could get one who has super long legs but looks just like a draft.... A lot also depends on the parents, was the father a big chunky farm draft? A thinner framed show type draft (I mean show as in driving). Was the mother the old style TB or the newer sleeker ones? Was the mother the draft or the father? I am not 100% on the WB breeding but I believe a draftxtb=/= Warmblood... We had one lady put an add in the paper for a "warmblood", said he did dressage etc. We went to look and she had about 80 pure bred drafts, We kept moving through pens and I kept expecting to see something less drafty.... nope we got to the horse and he looked 100% draft. She still had the mother and father.. mother was a not so nice TB and the father was a decent draft but that thing didnt look anything but draft...

| Full Member | Oh I know the randomness of things, but I am hoping to see the diffent variaties of Clyde/TB X's...I've been googling, an so far, I'm hoping he is the warmblood looking tyoe rather than the drafty type.... She's going to send me some pics so I will be able to see him... |

| Senior Member | Is he 1/2 TB 1/2 Clyde? Or some other percentage? I ride a huge (18 hh) horse who is half and half. He is built like a Clyde, heavy, broad, very strong and can be stubborn. However, he has more TB like movement and carriage (build very uphill, floaty(ish) trot and stamina and heart.) Has been lame once in the years I've known him, but is really sensitive to bugs. His owner also has a 3/4 TB 1/4 Clyde who I really like. Also very big, he is leggy, and looks like a heavier, sport horse TB. GREAT mind, extremely quiet, Fantastic mover. Basically a very good warmblood without the papers (He may be papered AWS, but I'm not sure). His sire, full siblings and half-siblings are all talented event horses. Basically, you can hope for a draft horse mind with TB heart and athleticism. That's the ideal of the cross. The not so pretty are the heavy, stubborn and smart horses who don't have the talent or desire to work with you. Do you know this horse's bloodlines? Such as who the sire is? That might help you predict how he will react to training. ETA: sorry I can't post pics, but neither horse is mine so...

| Senior Member+ | I know you said no other crosses but I used to lease a TB x Shire. He did 2nd level dressage and while his confo wasn't perfect he was still eye catching IMO and had very nice movement and an exceptional canter. The TB x Shire crosses can look very much like a TB x Clyde. That's the only reason why I posed a non clyde x Tb. huh I can't get the picture to upload to this page. But if you look in my Gallery pic's you can see a picture of him. He's the big horse with the white blaze. |

| Senior Member | I rode a Clyde/TB cross mare for a while... I LOVED her to death, she was awesome I agree with what's been said... in that any photos would be fairly random, because crosses like this can really really vary! Some clyde/TB crosses are huge and drafty (although slightly refined because of the TB) and some just look like slightly heavier built thoroughbreds... it all depends. That being said, I love draft/TB crosses (I love BIG horses, but I also love the athleticism and the dressage/jumping capabilities that can come with the TB breeding). Anyhoo, since you asked, here's a site I found where you can find many photos of Clyde/TB crosses: http://www.countrysidesporthorses.co...ur_clients.htm http://www.draftcrosses.com/From%20Our%20Clients.htm
