Anyone have mustangs?

Well i'm making a website about mustangs and i'd like to put some pictures on there of yours guys' mustangs. I also and specifically looking for pictures of them in shows or being ridden or anything really. I just want to get the point out that they ARE good horses and can win in competitions and such as such. Oh and some info about the horse would be great too..anything you want in there really..such as height, age...etc etc

My mustang, Star. She's four... the best girl in the world. She's 15'1... big girl for her breed. She can and will do absolutly anything asked of her. She's the greatest... here's my baby... If you want a specific picture of her doing something I can probably get it. Because I have like 1000 pictures of her. Rofl. She will ride english or western.. or bareback or whatever. Lol. She goes through anything on the trail, not afraid of much... This is a major picture overload.. but oh well. Hehe....

First show...

Friend on her jumping a creek...

Brother being silly on her. He slid off her butt in the first picture...

Our girls, Sunny and Java. Both are yearling-ish. We've had Sunny for a couple months and Java for 2 weeks.

Here is our Mustang Mare Tab. She was captured in Buffalo Hills, NV in February 2002. We got her from an adoption (along with her daughter Reno (Dawn can post her) in September 02. She has been a great experience and has come a long way. We were about to get her started undersaddle when she was hit by a truck in October. This has been quite a setback and we are slowly making progress again...

This is Tab on her first few times out in the field. With her best friend an ASB Jacques.
This was her after in the late fall. Not long after being hit.

In the late 1800's and early 1900's curlies were slaughtered because of their unusual appearance and superstition about them being diseased. So for generations virtually the only place the curly horse gene survived was high mountain mustang herds. Rachers from NV at the turn of the century reported that during the coldest of the cold winters, only the curly coated mustangs would survive- so in that way they stayed somewhat pure. That same ranch eventually started using curly mustangs as working horses on their ranch, since they could withstand the weather, and breeding them for their own purposes. Most curlies can trace their lineage back to that ranch.

There curlies in the modern mustang population, especially still in NV- two dozen or so go through BLM auctions every year nowdays. (Though the blood registry is now closed so to be technically technical they aren't "Bashkir Curlies") Ebony comes from a breeder in Indiana that aquired almost all their stock from the BLM in the 70's and 80's. Her sire was full mustang, so she's half, and Regal's 1/4. But I think/know her dam was part mustang too so that's where the (at least) 3/4ths comes in.

There's your history lesson.
