Any reason these supplements are so expensive?

My aunt swears by these supplements. She uses the enzymes which looks like a probiotics supplement. I mean I know quality supplements are pricey, but good lord. Any reason why these are so expensive? I looked at any other probiotic supplement, and the ingredients list is approximately the same with the same amounts. But a 5lb bag might cost $15 or $20

http://www.kamanimalservices.com/Hor...nzyme-plus.php <-- There's the one my aunt uses, scroll down to see the prices. All her products seem insane.

Just wondering, I'm not bashing her products. There might be some way of making it that's special or something?

Any thoughts?

For comparison, here's another product. A 5lb bag of this is $13.95

I know!!!

When my old gelding colicked a few months ago, I thought putting him on a good probiotic supplement would help. My aunt told me about this lady's products, she gave me her phone number. I called her before I even checked the website. She was really nice, very helpful, very much interested in selling some of her own products. By the end of the conversation, I was convinced that I needed her entire line of products to keep my horse healthy. She asked if I just wanted to give her my credit card info on the phone, and she'd get them shipped out that day. I assumed they'd be reasonably priced, and I almost said yes, but I figured I'd wait a day and do some more research.

I got on her website later, and was like "HOLY MOLEY!"

WOW!! that's....rediculous in my opinion...when you can get something very similar/pretty much the same for WAY less!! i just can't justify spending that much on a supplement, when there's something else out there that works just as well. but that's just my two cents!
Im wondering what makes hers that expensive though??? is there some secret ingredient or soemthing???

That's what I'm wondering.

My aunt (I know I keep talking about her, she's the only person I know who uses these) claims that there's some way of making these products so they are like in a capsule or something. So that the enzymes make it all the way to the intestine....or something. Nothing that made it sound THAT fancy.

If I was trying to sell a product for that much more than similar products, I'd make SURE my interested customers knew exactly what made it so expensive.

yeah-same here. if im going to spend that much on something like that, it better work, and i want to know exactly what's in it and what makes it so "special", so to speak!! ...that's just crazy, crazy to me!

Well, if you look at cat and dog suplements, they do the same... label it organic and slap a huge price tag.
When glucosamine first came out for humans, it was about $100 for a thirty day supply. They got it from grinding up oyster and shrmip shells! So imagine paying $100 for something they aren't really sure works and that you could get off someone's dock for free?
I wonder if people really do purchase those items though.
For regular suplements, there is still a wide difference. I get mine for about 20 cents a day and I have seen some that are almost the exact same ingredients going for about $2 a day. It pays to shop around...

A lot of times you'll find that more concentrated formulas do run more as well... you can't just go off the label when you're comparing things. 5 grams is not a lot when you look at the expensive stuff. By reducing the fillers it does up the price a lot
