Any insight on why truckers would do this?

I've noticed lately when I'm driving down the interstate (4 hours a day gives lots of time on the interstate) that sometimes when I pass a semi the driver will honk his horn at me a time or two. It doesn't seem to be an angry honk, but more of a friendly toot or two, if that makes sense.

Anyone have any insight into why they may be honking?

It happens probably once or twice a week, and I'm never driving badly when it happens. The most plausible reason I can come up with is that I have Marine Corps stickers on my car, so maybe they are tooting their horns to show their support??

Any ideas?

I would say it is because of the sticker! Congratulations on being an object of support.

I would tend to believe it is for the marine corps sticker. They appreciate the service.

I used to drive my truck and trailer on the interstate weekly to my riding lessons. I got the kindly flash of lights to cut back into the lane safely after passing them. I did the same for them as I knew some truck ediquete from my truck driving Dad.

It's the sticker!!! I get it all the time! I have a marine wife sticker, and another sticker!!

I wave back and give them a huge smile.

Just a thought... are you passing at night? Maybe you're forgetting to put your dims on?

Some truckers are very generous, letting you know when you're far enough ahead to pull back in front of them. Could be that, too.

Nope, I dont drive at night...well I do, but I'm never honked at then I don't think its letting me know I can pull back in either, because usually truckers use lights for that, and sometimes its a truck that is right behind another truck, so if I pulled back in, I would run into the truck in front of them.
