Smile

Yes, I questioned and still will question your story.
There is no malice involved.
I will think what I do about your story because of the information (or lack of) you have provided. You really have no reason to be mad at me for having doubts about it being true or not, as it is not my fault but yours for not being clear in your posts.

If someone put duck tape around the leg then someone knew about the horse. Obviously the leg was not injured in the way you assume it was....as in really, completely broken.
How did you know what was or was not under the duct tape?
Lots of people will use duct tape to hold a bandage in place and keep it from coming off, or getting wet?
Horse's that I have seen with broken legs quickly go into some type of shock and do not last very long.
I truly believe that no one would put duct tape on a BROKEN leg. Also, many times when a horse has hurt itself it will stand with it's leg in a strange position.
You admit that the gate was locked and you could not get in with the horse so you have no real ideal as to the exact nature of it's injuries.
Since you are not a Vet, then even you have to admit that you have no way of knowing the exact type of injury that this horse is supposed to have.

Also, since you did not have any idea who the owner was or how to contact them, why did you not simply call the POLICE and have them investigate this seriously injured horse? They CAN find out who the owner is and they DO have the legal right to take what ever action they feel was necessary...where you, on the other hand, do not.
If the horse's leg was really broken there would be NO WAY you could have taken it anywhere and if you had managed to do so, you would have been guilty of stealing...plus had you had the horse destroyed with out the owner's knowledge or consent you would have found yourself arrested as well as sued!

My questioning you about the facts was only to point out things that you COULD have done, but DID NOT do, to help this so-called injured horse in hopes that others who read your thread would then know what should be done if they ever happen upon a simular situation.

Very good point.

This also includes FEEDING a 'starving" horse. if you feed the horse, the authorities cannot seize the horse. it is a hard thing to do, but I've been there, and had to hold myself back till the authorities confirmed, 24 hours after the first visit, no one has fed the horse. be it me or the owners. even if I DID feed the horse, they would say the horse is being fed, nothign they can do except monitor the situation.

So just like with an injury you DON"T want to treat it or seize the horse without the proper authorities, don't feed or water a horse you feel is being abused either.

Well atleast the owner Did something to try and help, You never know the owner could have been a person that Bought or Took Him/Her to try and help Aswell, Maybe the owner has a Money Problem and Cannot Pay a vet to do work ? There Could be lots of reasons, And i am Not Doubting What you Said at all, But the horse may have broken its leg In So many Ways, It also might not Actually be broken, Could just be Sore, Or Anything like that and he/she Might just be really favoring it...Sorry for the Spelling Errors
