I myself have been chased by a pack of pits on horseback. Scariest moment of my life. Luckily my horse and I both got away unhurt. My younger life was spent showing raising and racing siberian huskies. My mother was a nationally certified dog obedience instructor with students that had nationally ranked dogs. So I might have a clue when it comes to dogs. Instinct is instinct, something you can not change. A pit has the instinct to be an aggressive dog. You add in irresponsible ownership and you just have a diaster waiting to happen.

I wonder what people who defend these attack dogs would be saying if they were burying their own horses or children ?

There are a TON of breeds that people mistake for pitbulls. There was a paper I saw once that had 21 breeds on it and it asked you to pick out which dog was the pitbull. I think maybe one person chose the right dog. The rest of the 14 some group did not choose the right dog cause so many of them look very similar to pitbulls.

PS. This group of 14 were huge dog people, training to be dog trainers, and were knowledgeable about breeds and the like.

Did you read the article? It IS a big deal...Last year a woman was killed by a Pit, after it killed her little dog...and that was local also...

Do you really believe that if it was another breed it would go unoticed?

Yes i do.. All this bull is just posted everywhere when its a pit bull.. there was a golden retriver that attack and killed 3 kids in winnipeg.. did you hear about that? nope.

Up here there was a husky that attack and killed 5 small dogs and 3 children.. did you hear about that?

there was a pomerainian ( sp ) in sault saint marie that killed a baby,.. you hear about that?

Aggressive dogs are found among any breed or crossbreed;
and Breed specific legislation and breed bans are not effective solutions to the problem of dog attacks; and The problem of dog attacks is best dealt with through a comprehensive program of education, training and legislation encouraging responsible ownership of all breeds;

The pomeranian i found out from a friend of mine who works at a vets office when the dog was brought in to be uthanized

The golden retriver was a dog that a friend of mine owned.
