  | Another funky colored mare...
Meet "Luscious Foot". (Hey, she was named by a 4 year old, give her a break.) I love this mare. She's never handled except the few times I go out to see my boyfriend's horses. The people who own her (and the other horses in the pasture, excluding my boyfriend's geldings) dont do anything with them. Pretty pitiful for the horses, and sorry on the owners' part. When the 4yo lived there, they were all pets. But her mom left her dad, and now dad has nothing to do with the daughter... so they're no longer pets. AAAAAANYWAY, I've always eyeballed Luscious since I'm a suc.ker for an overo, I love the way she's marked. And she's such an unusual color. I got to messing with her a little today, feeding her treats... and noticed just how odd her color is. I took a few pics for our color experts.  I'm sure she's liver chestnut and flaxen... but her legs are a stange color and she has these orange area interspersed with her base color. I got some cute pics of her too I'll add.

lol i fed her one treat and she curled her lip. snapped the first picture. wanted to see if she'd do it again, so i fed her another treat... and lo and behold, there went the lip for pic #2! so do yall think she is just liver and flaxen? if you look at her hock versus her belly where the whitish spot is, you can kinda see the orange i was talking about. it's almost like the white spot was incomplete or something. kinda strange. you can see it goes up to her back too though, in the loin area. and on her butt cheek too. and her legs almost appear marbled... |

i honestly dont know. i dont even know if she's registered, or if she is and i just dont know it. i would think with her being branded she owuld have something somewhere... but i dont even know if the owners know, or have any papers... and i know they dont care. poor girl is turned out with two ungelded male horses and two ungelded donkeys. i'd love for her to "disappear" to my place.  |

I'm not at all convinced she's chestnut. It's very possible, I'm just not convinced. I think there's a good chance she's some form of silver (brown base maybe?). Her hooves are striped, she has dark masking on her face and the odd marbley color on her sides (let alone the marbling on her legs) really looks silver to me. She reminds me alot of Talia's silver mare.

if i decide to sell Ransom's mom after she gets her weight back on and weans the baby, and if I can find some papers on this mare, I might try to talk her owners into parting with her. I've really liked her looks for a long time... I used to eyeball her driving past her pasture long before I met my boyfriend or the mare's owners. But I dont want to put too many horses on my small acreage... 4 on 7 acres is already pushing it....
