Animal Cruelty?

My English teacher came to see Jacqueline. When we were walking in the pasture I was disgusted when I saw Vinnie close up.. Is this not animal cruelty to leave this untreated because it obviuosly hasn't been treated to and she never did get him that steriod shot he needed months ago?

1. Hair loss around mouth
2. Same thing
3. Rear sores
4. Same thing

What causes this besides neglect?

I doubt they would consider it cruelty unless the animal is in obvious pain. You can always contact you local SPCA or Humane socity and talk with them, maybe send them the pictures and see what they think.

I do think this would be a concern and should be looked into. I don't believe it would be considered cruelty, like said about, unless the horse was in obvious pain. Have u said something to the owner?

Ok in a case like this with a bit of missing hair and a few sores you will more than likley NOT get a response from the local animal control, humane society or what ever animal abuse and neglect organizations is in your area. If the horse otherwise APPEARS in good health (decent weight, feed and waster availabe, proper shelter etc,) then they are most likey just going to do a quick look and move on. These organizations have far worse cases to deal with and many times will not bother with the more minor complaints.

How old is this horse? He appears to be an older horse. He could a medical condition, an allergy, a poor auto imune problem or a number of other things.

Angry

It totally blows my mind that people can be so neglectful to their horses and leave them in terrible condition. This horse is not in obvious near death pain but hello, in obvious need of care.

I can't understand how people can be so careless and not see the obvious signs, like what that horse has. Maybe becuase I am so , I conscientious, I don't know.

It would depend upon a vet examination. It could possibly be passed off as neglect due to not treating/not seeking vet help. It would depend upon whether or not the vet determined that it is affecting the animal's quality of life, life-threatening, etc...

they say he is 8 years old but Sharon and I both think he's much older... Payday, our 27 year old gelding, has more life than vinnie appears to have.. active wise

Okay, something that would constitute as animal cruelty would be the owner not taking responsibility for the horse. The owner is required by law to provide vet care when the animal needs it. This horse clearly needs it, and should be receiving such.

It is not "normal" for the horse to have excessive hair loss around the mouth, and sores. Something is obviously causing this, and the owner needs to find out what it is and treat it. It could be a blood disorder, an infection, or myriad of other things. In the very least, she should be treating those sores.

I suggest you call your local animal control/shelter, and find out what the laws are, and what passes for abuse in your area.

I am sure I will get flagged for this, but do you honestly think that is animal abuse. I mean some hair is missing. It actually looks NOT sore, not in pain, NOTHING, just hair gone. Has it gotten worse over time? Has it always been like this?

The face doesn't bother me at all, that is NORMAL... the rear, the pics are not that clear to define what you are showing us.

Tell me why you feel this is abuse? I don't see it, I see a horse that has hair loss, no rubbing or scabs or scars, just normal hair loss, maybe he is allergic to something, but you would think it would be raw...

Just my 2 cents and NO I wasn't there to see it in person, just don't think that is a case for aspca, I mean there has to be SEVERE abuse!
