Andalusian Stallion

I was surfing around and seen this guy. I'm only familiar with the Quarter Horse and Paint breed but when I seen him he caught my eye. I think he's a bit Fat but he looked very pretty and put together. I may be wrong just thought I would share him.

Andalusian horse for stud in Pennsylvania (Mount Bethel, PA)

I train, show and ride Andalusians and would recommend them as very nice crosses for stock type horses. The resulting offspring may be registered with IALHA as half-Andalusians, or as American Azteca horses.

I have never heard of this particular stallion before, but can strongly recommend one that I have worked with in the past - Santiago (from Rothrock Andalusians) based on his accomplishments, the accomplishments of his offspring as well as his temperament, I am myself breeding my Dutch Warmblood mare to him in 2008.

There are lots and lots of very nice Andalusian stallions out there - it is worth the time to take a look!

Billie, please educate me on Andalusians. I've never seen one, what are they used for? How do they feel when you ride them? Are they gated? Since you made your post it struck my curiosity

The Andalusian is my "dream Horse"!
I plan on owning one or two of them myself!

While I could talk your ears off about them...in brief....

The Andalusian is a versatile breed with a long proud history.
They were the horses of Kings!
Quote:
The Andalusian is one of the great, ancient breeds of horse. It originated in the Iberian Peninsula and is named for the region of Spain called Andalucia though the breed actually was more widespread. The Andalusian horse has been documented throughout European history and was praised as the finest horse of war by the Romans and Greeks in ancient times. It’s history as a equine type goes back even further, documented by cave paintings believed to be 20,000 years old. It has been known by many names throughout history but has always been spoken of with respect for its uncanny agility, courage, presence, tractability and beauty.
They are not "gaited" like the other gaited breeds...for example: TWH, Racking or Fox Trotter.
Quote:
Andalusians have been used for all manner of riding horses, and were the preferred mount of kings over many centuries. They excel in high school dressage and are used in cattle work and bullfighting in their native Spain. They are highly intelligent and learn very quickly.

Partbred Andalusians are popular as sport horses in many countries. They also excel at classical dressage and are used for show jumping and other equestrian activities.
The breed is beginning to become sought out by Dressage riders as individual horses began to excel at the higher levels of dressage. The Andalusian breed is "naturally" collected and ideal for the upper levels.

You've really raised both eyebrows Sandra... My curiousity grows more now, I'm very interested in knowing this breed. It really interests me that they were used to work cattle. This is pretty neat! wow are they pricey too
