Boy I sure hope he was right on the Motility and hopefully it was progressive! Would have been some great semen if it was! Did they give you numbers on what it looked like before it left?

Nice choice in stallions

Oh man what a stress that must have been. I am waiting for my mare to finally come in. The weather has been so horrible here that she is hung in a transitional heat cycle. Which is ok this week the stallion owner is out of town and won't be home until Monday.

Was she also given HCG or deslorin? I hope so, we have a few mares that grow 50+ folicles and in that case you might need another shipment

I am very new to AI. He said 70% + was his evaluation on the semen, thats a good evaluation???? The breeder said this stud had very strong semen, but I am sure all breeders say that about there semen LOL!!!

Whats Progressive??? He said the motion was good, he did a sample from each bag, there was 2 bags. She should have been AI'd Tuesday and Wed but the semen only got her Wed so we did both bags in her.......

The semen was about 37-38 Hours old.

I did not get any numbers from the breeder on his semen when it left.....

Thanks alot I really like the stud to

Hmm that sux! But thank goodness you get to live cover your mare!! That is so so much easier than AI! I dont want to do AI again!!!! Lets hope we both have babies next year!!!!!!!

HCG is often given on the day that semen is ordered, it take 48 hrs to work, but will speed up oviluation and deslorin is I think 36-40 hrs.

Ha. You don't see how it's possible after one night of semen... you and how many teenage girls think that too! LOL.

Those numbers seem really high for that long after collection. Normal motility is over 65%. AI's not harder than Live Cover, it's SHIPPING that's harder. Most good farms won't do anything but AI for the sake of their stallion and mares not getting hurt unless a stallion's very good at his live cover!

Oh, and progressive means swimming full speed a head, not just dancing around on the microscope

I got a good giggle out of that one!

Mtroika, I sure hope she takes! FedEx does suck, especially when it's crossing the border!!! I ordered a saddle and leathers from dover in the south, shipping was supposed to be 3 days, for $200. It took one week to get here and cost $900 in shipping!! We were getting the saddle cheaper, until then! It was a big deal too because I couldn't even ride in my other saddle (I was bareback for a few weeks) and I had a show that ******** weekend!
