~And the adventure begins...~

Well. Things have been crazy in the last month or so. I'm sure most of you remember "Mrs. R" and how I was going to do chores for her in exchange for getting to ride Santanna.
Things have changed since then. Santanna's been lame under saddle constantly. There was the crazy ride in the woods. Mrs. R falling off for the second time, luckily not hurting her back, which is not in the greatest shape. Lollie, her 6 year old Kentucky Mountain Horse mare, being practically a yard ornament since the woods incident.
And now I'm going to ride Lollie! Yeah, that was out of the blue, huh? For a while, my mom didn't want me on Lollie because Mrs. R had fallen off her twice. But now I've convinced her that I can do it and that I'm not scared to ride Lollie, and Mrs. R has said yes and things are practically perfect again!
Um, heh heh. Yeah, they're better, but a problem remains. Lollie has, lately, been neglecting to remember her ground manners. So before I even put a saddle on her back, it's back to school for Miss Lollie.
The good thing is, she's only six. Still young enough that she isn't set in her ways yet. I'm going to try join up on her. I've never done it before, but I think I have a pretty good grasp of what you do and how it works. Hopefully if she learns to respect me, then she'll learn to respect humans in general and the manners problem will be solved.
So it could be a while before I even think about riding her. But I'm excited. I've never done anything this big with horses before. I'm posting because I want to keep HGS updated every step of the way, without people being like, "HUH?" every time I have a question. So I'm only explaining it once! LOL. If anyone has any tips, suggestion, words of caution, tell me now! I'm willing to take any help and criticism.
Wish me luck! The journey begins!

You know that's not true and you are on of the more popular members to begin with!

That is great that you have a horse to ride now. Let me just get it all straight first your doing chorse and in exchange she is letting you kinda train her horse?

However it is working it sounds like you'll have a lot of fun and it sounds like back to the basics for her! Good luck and let us know what she is like to ride and we'll help you figure out all her kinks! lol

good luck and have fun

I will try (and, LOL, I just called her Miss Lollie because she's being kinda bad right now, kinda like you'd say "Now, missy...!" to a misbehaving little girl) but how do you ask a horse owner if you can post pics of their horse on the Internet??

At first I thought you meant wear a helmet even on the ground and I was like what?? But I always wear a helmet when riding, so no problem there...

Aww, sure, you love me but you can't spell my name!
LOL, just kidding! There's like a thousand different spellings of my name, half the time my own relatives don't spell it right...

Thanks for the encouragment everyone!
