If you have PROOF that she was trained there, then there is NOTHING he can do about it and if you send the proof to the advertising site, they will either have to reinstate your posting or refund you your money.

I would have laughed if a "trainer" told me that..what a load of manure..

you dont owe him didly squat on commission unless HE refers a seller to you..it has nothing to do with his training on the horse.

the trainer who did the Professional training is mentioned all the time in ads..that way folks know the "professional trainer" isnt billy Jim Bob the drunken roper from down the road who did the "training"..

Maybe the guy has become Jim Bob since he rode this horse and doesn't want to have to sober up for phone calls.

If a horse falls out of a regular program often the horse will not perform as it did with that trainer. This is not to say the horse does not perform well. But, you are using the name of a trainer to help you advertise the sale. Is this your trainer? Do you have other horses in training with that trainer? If the trainer is well known people may call him/her to ask about the horse. Phone calls take time, so this may be why he's asking for commission. Or he is gently asking you not to use his name in the sale.

And that is one of the risks you take as a Pro and one of the risks you factor into everything you do as a Pro. Don't want that to happen, don't charge for your "services". Or get pickier as to the type of clients you take on.

He might be angry that it wasn;t you that purchased the training from them? As you didn;t actually pay for it - do you have proof of the training?

The person I bought her from sent me lots of photos of her in training, she sent me the times she was there (she just came back from training in the spring), she wrote me several emails about it, AND there are videos on YOUTUBE with my horse in training!

The person I bought her from did not want me to sell her and I offered her back to her original owner before EVER posting an ad. She declined saying she couldn't afford another horse.

So I went ahead and posted the ads. A couple days later she emailed me saying that I wasn't "ALLOWED" to put where the horse had been trained.

I asked her why thinking maybe I really did break some law...her answer?

"i don't want the trainer to accidently see your ad and find out that you are selling her because he might talk to my husband and i didn't tell my husband that you are selling her and i don't want him to find out".

when i said that wasn't a good enough reason SHE emailed the trainer and asked him to have him remove my ads.

He told me it was because either I couldn't use the training barns name or I was to give him 10% commission.

I have NO IDEA why this is such a big deal....I am only selling the horse for $1200! gahh....

any ideas on how to deal with this guy? should i just keep ignoring him?

Repost your ads, mention however many days training and what discipline she was trained in. You can say professional trainer. Then if someone is really interested, you can tell them the name of the trainer and the barn she trained at. =)
