You are doing the right thing.... not inhumane. I give you a huge pat on the back for doing it, because I know it was a hard decision.

Thank you, this is one of the hardest things I have ever had to do.

I really do commend you, I know it can be hard as we've been through it. But you are making the right choice, what would happen if she attacked somebody else? You'd feel just awful. Horses are capable of killing a human quite easily, we were lucky when my little brother was attacked that he only broke his ribs and did not die. He was just walking through the pasture to get to his pony's pen, he did not even look at the horse it just ran him down. There's no way you want to risk selling her giving her to a rescue and potentially hurt or even kill somebody else. You are very wise in your decision, and again I commend you for it!

last summer jade was watering and fell in the pen and got trampled. It was by the old horses but still, she spooked them when she fell and the just turned and ran and didn't see her. That was enough of an accident. glad you brother is okay.

As much as I would like to say it is the wrong thing, it isnt. You are doing the world a favor. It sounds like she is very dangerous. It makes me wonder if the trainer pulled her over and she whacked her head quite a few times. It is hard, but you are doing the right thing.

It's strange you say that because, the first time I tried a hackamore on her she literally ran backwards, flipped over and laid there. First thing that came into my head was that he flipped her.

I've actually been in a similar situation, only the horse we had was worse. You could not get in a pen with him or he would have killed you. He actually started jumping fences to try and get to people. He spent about a month locked in a cow shed, because he was so dangerous. It was actually too dangerous for a vet to get near enough to put him to sleep, so we took him to slaughter. It was the best option for everyone, he could have, and would have, killed someone, if he got the chance. It's a hard choice to make, and it was hard for me, he was supposed to be my first real horse. But I know it was the right decision, and considering how your mare acts, and the fact that you've tried your best to rehabilitate her, I would probably do the same thing.

MBB those of us who know you and have grown to love you know that you have tried and feel that this is the best option for this mare....

You are doing the right thing by protecting yourself and others!!

I am 100% with you on putting her down.

She is a danger to you and all who may be in her area. It is not inhumane and it may save a life.

Hugs on your decision and I agree w/another poster you have gone above and beyond this is just a very mean and angry horse who intends to kill!
