Alla Czar babies. Have one? It's interesting...

Anyone heard of this Dutch boy?
http://www.darkhorsefarm.com/allaczar.html

Some of his babies have come into training and they all have been lovely movers. Some with better temperaments than others of course lol. All were very big with socks and a big white blaze. A majority of them are chestnuts with beautiful manes and forelocks.

In the Czone and Czartistic are the ones that came in. The stallion that came in last week has a barn name of Toby, but I don't know if he's on the website or what his show name is. I think at one point we also had Aladdin in.

How is it that Alla Czar is not very big, but his babies are HUGE.
And, how is it that most of his babies are chestnuts???

He is a bay stallion, about 16.2 or 16.3, with a big blaze and socks I think. Out of the youngsters that came in for training, none of them had dams that were very large. Under 17h if I can remember. But the offspring themselves were pretty much going to be in the 17h range or bigger.

If I could, I would have one! A friend of mine in Chandler boards next to Dark Horse Farm, so every year she gets to see a few of his babies I've drooled over him for many many years.

He has a few REALLY nice stallion sons standing now too.

I would jump at the chance to have an Alla C'zar baby. This guy was the biggest thing before Popeye K hit the scene and a lot of people are breeding their Alla C'zar mares to Popeye.
He's lead the pack in the hunter breeding sire of the year five years in a row and even at his age, an '82 model, with limited breedings he is still topping the lists with his offspring. Of course he comes from VERY old dutch breeding which does not always equal what is looked for in today's show ring. So to see his kids topping the prize lists says a lot about this guy. I am so sad that his son Czulu was gelded as I really thought this would be the son to carry on his father's legacy and his babies were just phenomenal.
The whole chestnut/size thing is just due to genetic roulette. Alla C'zar is a bay, he has that chestnut ability and just throws size to the mares. Which is great for a lot of people with the smaller girls!

I just noted the color comments in this thread. Him throwing lots of chestnuts is, as Travling said, pretty mcuh coincidence. He has a 50-50 chance of contributing chestnut, so when bred to chestnut mares each baby has a 50-50 shot of being chestnut. When bred to bay mares hiding chestnut, 25-75 chance of chestnut.

His white is likely due to sabino and has proven to pass fairly well. He could be splash in addition though which would boost his white production.

I've know several Alla Czar babies as well as having seen him many years ago. He is quite an impressive horse. He is/was the top hunter stallion for a while. My trainer has had 2 Alla Czar babies. One in '06 and one in '07 out of the same mare who is by Volatire. They are quite similar, both bays with blazes and no socks and both are looking like they are going to be 17+hands. The older one is very very sweet and decently put together. And the younger one is a bit full of himself but is going to be super fancy. I'm not sure if the size came from the stallion as the mare just had an '08 filly that is ginormaus!

Oh my gosh O_O. I didn't know he was so well known! Wow....lol. I feel like I've been taking the experience with some of his babies for granted now. My trainer seems to be the official dressage trainer for their babies now. A lot of the people there are starting to take their horses in for dressage to start off with, and then move on to hunters/jumpers, which I think is a GREAT idea.

I can't wait to see the stallion tomorrow now . Sounded like he was gonna be kind of a spoiled brat, but I'll see how it goes. I'm really grateful to my instructor that she's giving me the opportunity to work with horses like that under supervision.

I also find it impressive that Alla Czar was also a Prix St. George dressage horse, and he did quite well. Props to multi-talented ponies like that .

I think it is very exciting that they are crossing the Popeye and Alla Czar lines together. That should make for some very impressive jumping lines that can go well in dressage too, as the horses we got were very good movers and had some pretty nice minds too. Not the best canters, but very lofty trots and good bone.

ACC, thanks for that very interesting information . That makes a lot more sense now. I'll have to share that with my trainer.

JB, who are some of those really nice stallions?
And, if I ever hear of one his babies for sale at a reasonable price, I'll let you know! lol I'd want one of his offspring for myself if they weren't so large. I'm 5'1, and 16.2h is where I'm maxed out if I want to ride a dressage test efficiently/safely . I guess that means it's ponies and Arabs for me .

What is a sabino btw?

LOL, define "reasonable"!

Sabino is what puts "normal" face white on a horse, and many of the leg whites as well. When it comes to the leg white, a typical Sabino trait is to see the white higher on the front of the leg.

acc - I am beginning to think that Alla' Czar AND Balta' Czar are also splash - bottom-heavy blaze plus some straight-line leg white.

IMO sabino puts white higher on the front of the leg on the rear legs only. It trails up the back of the front legs imo. Socks or stockings that come to a point are a clue as well as wide, even blazes with a little lip white.

I agree about them just based on their babies. Some of the babies definitely seem a bit splashy.

We have a gorgeous colt out of this amazing combination of stallions. Still haven't named him yet as we're trying to have both stally's in there. Any suggestions? He's a very big boy, and should finish a dark color with lots of chrome. What a nice Christmas present for someone! check out his photos -

Oh my goodness moontide he is so gorgeous! You MUST keep posting picks of him as he gets older . Are you planning to have him as a jumper or as a stud?
