I have a used Stubben VSG(?) it's great for Dressage and jumping. But you'll find (especially if your use to a dressage saddle) that they don't put you in the same position as a dressage... but it's still pretty good. If you are seriously interested in Jumping, I would go with an all purpose... if not, maybe look for a used dressage and then pick up a used/cheaper saddle for jumping.

It really depends on what you want to do. If you are training for dressage and want to show dressage, you NEED a dressage saddle. You cant do "real" dressage in an all-purpose saddle.

If you are schooling lower level dressage and want to do green level events one day and maybe do some training over fences then go with the all-purpose.

I agree w/ Super Trooper. When I think of an AP saddle, i think AP no purpose. You could use it for jumping but I wouldn't recommend it for dressage or learning dressage. Another option for you would be to buy a used saddle that's on consignment at a tack shop. They're the best deals and you can get some pretty nice saddles for cheap.

You can do dressage in an all-purpose saddle but i wouldnt recommend jumping in a dressage one. An all-purpose is the way to go for you.

i have an A/P and it works great for me. you can just put on one saddle for what ever you want to do and you dont have to change it all the time. If you want leather i have a bates saddle and it is the most comfortable saddle i have ever ridden in. if you want a synthetic wintec are very good. What ever you do dont get a cheap one they are awful.

Deffinately go for a Bates or a Bates Wintec.
They're the most comfortable saddle.
I would also go for an AP especially since you're not focusing on one sport. If you decide you want to stick with one over the other, you can always trade it in and buy the type you decide you want.

Get a dressage saddle for riding dressage an an AP or CC for jumping. An AP can really screw up your position when it comes to the classical seat.
