Hi, I don't think this method would do you much good because it is a quick fix and you could only make your horse sleepy for around half an hour when the horse is probably in pain 24hrs, however there alternative methods that can help your horse get through day a bit better like these herbal products..

http://www.meadowherbs.com/articleolderhorse.htm

Also, there are a lot of other helpful sites around the net if you are still concerned about helping your horse..

I'm sorry I couldn't you help you in this case..

Good luck..

(wearing trusty flak jacket)

I have followed this with interest but stayed out. I seem to be able to generate enough controversy on my own without buying into someone elses thread.

To the disbelievers of this, have you tried it? Can it be worse than the tie downs used from the good old martingale and beyond? Is it worse than having the vet come and give a sedative to do things like clip a horse? Please don't try to tell me this doesn't happen.

If it is a natural way will it hurt us or our horses to try it. Do we knock the people incorporating herbs into their horses diet because there is not enough scientific research to back the claims?

I know enough to know I don,t know anything! I will keep an open mind on whether this method works, reading through various replies it seems to be working to a degree for some of the more open minded. I will give it a go. I don,t know but if it works on my horses it may save them when I am miles from a vet and no handy knockout drugs are available.

Not only have I been following this, I have had the privilege of seeing ED4U2 do the "Tap" in person.

I read some people have done or seen something similar but it was still a myth not even vets had an answer for..

I think ED4U2 has nearly perfected this into a technique just about anybody can do...

I was always taught to give credit where credit was due, and I think this is one of those times....

Okay.
I've been hiding something from you guys.

Some of you remember my old horse, Kayle.
He wasn't exactly an "orthodox" Thoroughbred. He was pretty unconventional, and threw a lot of curveballs.

Well.

No one knew it, but he was addicted.
To his own endorphins.

As you can see by the photo, there's zero rein contact. He just turned his head on his own, after he figured out how awesome the endorphin rush was.

Two seconds after this photo was taken, he was on the ground.

[Disclaimer: I'm not being at all serious. It's true that Kayle liked to turn his head and hold it there for several seconds at a time, but he never hit the ground or anything like that.]

[Disclaimer, part deux: I'm also not trying to bash anyone here, as I do believe [[as I've said before]] that this is a valid method as far as the mechanics go. I just found this photo the other day and this thread was the first thing I thought of...]

and I've a youngster that likes to turn right round and play with the toes of my boots if I stop to undo a gate! Fortunately he never fell over either

He's the most agile horse I know though. I think he's trying to get his head up his backside in this photo!

He's a comic of a horse! This is him facing up to a scarey bollard - like a dog does - and just before he ran and picked it up and took off up the field with it. Probably also like another latest dance craze

Don't worry I've deleted my own. Having said that I hadn't the faintest idea what topic this was about at all from the first posting?
  • Censored locked postings?
  • Seabiscuit?
  • Riding young t/b's?
  • Dangers of smoking?
  • Dangers of radiation?
  • Trying to sell the unproven and untested?
  • Seeking a marketing opportunity?
No-where can I see any clarity about what the subject was actually about? And I'm blowed if I know how it got to release of endomorphines??
