| Senior Member+ | Albinos...Need color experts...NOW!!! I know that according to science (and lots of research) there is no TRUE albino horse. Now, I need an answer to what I have here. Details... A friend and I got onto the color subject when he kept calling my Flea-bitten Arab mare a white horse. I kept telling him she was grey. Well, anyways, convo was started and I made the point that there were no albinos. He asked me what a white horse with pink skin and pink eyes would be. I said that I had never seen one and didnt think they exsisted. He said he knows where one is......I didnt believe him. He calls another friend of ours and asks her.....Hey, what colors eyes does Pat's horse have?? She says red. I take the phone and ask...What the whites are red? She says NO, the iris, like on white rabbits. I am going out this weekend to see this horse and I am taking my camera. I asked how they know she has pink skin.....She said when she rides and the horse gets sweaty, the white hair get like see-through and all you see is the pink skin. What do you guys think?? These are not ppl to BS me, esp since they are willing to take me to see this horse. Any ideas here? Jessie |

| Senior Member+ | You'd better post the pics on here! Make sure you get a shot of the eyes. My dad has a paint mare and when she gets sweaty and you wash her her skin is pink. But I don't think that would count for her whole body, because she has patches of sorrel...I'm just saying about the pink skin though.... |

| Senior Moderator | Jessie- There aren't any albino horses...and if somehow this horse does have the red eyes indicative of the absence of pigment tell them to call UC Davis ASAP and they can change the premise they have based their research on! I bet they are amber colored or very light blue. You will have to keep us updated just in case we get a chance to see history in the making...You never know.. April

| Senior Member+ | See thats what I was thinking, light amber or light blue. But both of them SWEAR that they are the same color red as a white rabbit (THEIR comparision, NOT mine). He said thats why he remembers the horse so well. Said that he knew they come in brown and blue (Has been around my horses for 10+ years) but had never seen one with red eyes. If this horse has red eyes.... I am calling UC Davis MYSELF...Oh yes, I am taking a brand new card for my camera and I am GOING to find the correct lighting to get a GOOD pic of the eyes...for you and cause I am sure UC Davis would like some too. I will also call my local University. Two ppl, both saying the same thing....without getting together on it first. It makes me SOOOOO CURIOUS!!! I cant WAIT TO GO THIS WEEKEND!! Jessie |
