I wasn't sure if you were practicing him in your barn halter, a bridle or a show halter.

Okay, I am practicing in my nylon barn halter and cotton lead with a chain. The chain is under or over his nose. I switch it up.

At shows I use a leather show halter with leather lead and chain with the typical run under and up in SMS.

I was asking because I'm a strong believer in show horses learning the difference in equipment and routine. If it was primarily when he was wearing his show halter, I was going to suggest that you put it on him at home, and just take him for walks without schooling so he didn't always associate it with SMS. Is he okay for you under saddle? If so, then he either hates showmanship,or he could very well be he is uncomfortable when he makes his turn. He certainly is a looker. There. I found them.

Well, he is more aggressive at home than shows. At shows he is more interested in his surroundings than being mean to me.

He is okay for me under saddle besides for the baby antics and some playfulness.Other than yes.I mean playfulness like when we are playing around trotting the pole pattern and we "run" home (keep in mind he is pleasure horse) he'll do a little kick out baby buck. Other than he is fine

I am really starting to believe he just hates SMS.

I think you may be right about him hating SMS. Oh, well, there could be worse things for him to hate. Like being ridden. (that's a joke). I'm not familiar with QH rules, but can you use another horse for SMS and still earn whatever points you need?
