Agouti?

If both parents are bay is the chance of the agouti gene getting passed 100%? How does that work? I know that with Bay bred to bay we can get:

Chestnut (provided both are heterozygous black and 2 chestnut genes pass)

Bay (both pass black and agouti)

Black (How does one get a black out of 2 bays??)

Gosh I love equine color genetics!

Black from two bays means both bays are heterozygous for agouti
ie
EE or Ee and Aa
so they passed on the E and the a

Two bays have to be heterozygous for BOTH black and Agouti in order the get the variety of color
Ee Aa
Ee Aa
means you get
Black Ee or EE aa
Bay Ee or EE Aa or AA
or Chestnut ee (agouti doesn't show only counts when breeding back to non chestnut)

you only need one black gene Ee and one Agouti Aa to make bay

To guarantee bay when breeding bay to bay, one of them has to be homozygous for black and one has to be homozygous for bay - might be the same horse, might be split between the 2.
