I know its terrible that people abuse horses. It should not be done. But then, there are alot of things in the world that shouldn't be done... Lets just remember to do our part in being kind and gentle with our animals.

I heard once that long-ears MUST be trained the way a horse SHOULD be trained. How true.

Angry

People that do that make me sooo mad!! Then after they make the horse so afraid of people or objects that it's dangerous to be around they think they can just send it to an auction or a recue or even a slaghter house. Then make it somebody else's problem. it's just not right!!

Ya, I agree. Alot of people don't realize they are being cruel. Many of them are very ignorant and are just doing what some other (equally ignorant) person has told them to do. It is unfortunate (big understatement!!) The best thing to do is become as educated as you can about horsemanship, do the very best by the horses you come in contact with and hope that you can influence those around you to do the same.

People that mistreat animals should be kicked or stomped on by their horses. But thats usually not the case. I find horses will be submissive and utterly afraid of their abusers, and then when another human comes along that does not treat them like that, they lash out at them, causing a potentially dangerous situation. Meaning, the new, kind owner gets kicked in the chest and the old abusive one carries on to hurt more horses.

Its about 100 times more difficult for someone who cares to be able to take care of and train the horse because that ******** that couldnt take the extra time to train their horses properly beat the **** out of them, leading them to distrust any human.

Bravo to anyone who takes the time to rehabilitate abused horses. Tex had been abused in his past and it took months and month for him to trust me. He wasn't even a bad case of abuse, but I see the reprecussions of it in everything he does. I don't let my horse get away with things but I am fair and firm. Instead of hurting him, I will raise my voice, and I can tell you that 80% of horses will respond to that better than raising a hand to them. And if he does get any contact from me, it is a swat because he has done something dangerous.

It makes me made to, But I think people do it because they lack in knowledge and they are cowards, they feel powerful when they have a horse scared out of its mind. And I agree they don't have the patience to train from the ground up. As the saying goes what comes around goes around, I know of a guy who was like that until a horse took revenge and put him in a wheel chair, the poor thing obviously had enough and I couldn't blame it. Thank God he is dead now.

It makes me MAD

Its sad but true these idiots that feel powerful to have a big strong animal running scared. As the saying goes (what comes around goes around), as I knew of a guy who is now dead good riddens, that was put in a wheel chair by a horse that had obviously had enough of the beatings, and I can only think how bad it must of been for this horse to have turned on him like it did the poor thing, but hey at least it stopped him from doing it to other horses, when i think about it this horse is really a hero to every other horse on his property as he had 100s of horses, he used to buy and sell them thats how I met him i was looking to buy a horse at that time.
