You have got to be kidding me?! That poor thing, there is a halter completely inbedded into his skin! I can't even imagine how painful that must be How can people do this...

All I have to say is these people have something coming to them... Deeds like these don't go unpunished!

The horrible thing is, she has only been charged with one account of cruelty and may very well get those horses back after she goes to court

Gads. I had gotten one once that the halter had grown into his face-not as severely as that one though. It really messed up his chewing ability. It took MONTHS to get him back to 'normal'. Here, when one gets rescued-the rescuer can charge the owner for all the care that has been given as long as there are receipts. The courts will judge in that favor as well. I wonder if that is the case there. That was how I was able to keep one of the guys here. The people HAD the money-but didn't want to dish it out.

I hope this works out for the best. Personally, I would like to take a horsewhip to this person, with a nice warm salt water bath after...

If I understand right from the article, she is refusing to give the horses up after they are treated but has not paid one cent towards vet bills. Hopefully the judge will have mercy on these poor horses and slap a hefty fine on that woman, or better yet, throw her butt in jail.
If not for that one getting loose those horses would've died in agony at the hands of that woman. She had been reported numerous times but nothing was done until police officers found the horse wandering the roads after someone called it in. The poor thing went through 6 hours of surgery and is said to not be recovering well

I have always thought the violence towards abusers thing was counterproductive, but this one... this one makes me wonder.

Yip-that is generally how these people work. "no it's mine, and I love it', ok, whatever.

Violence towards abusers can be very counterproductive...however....there are times I feel that may be the only way they will 'get it'. This was not a slow acting move on the part of this person. Imagine how long it took for that halter to get to that depth alone-let alone the other issues that poor soul is having. It is so very disturbing.
