I really hope that she is found guilty and gets hit with the harshest fine and jail time possible. Since it is a misdemeanor it has a max of 1 yr in jail and/or $1,000 fine. I hope she gets both and is banned from owning any more animals.

Violence towards abusers can be very counterproductive...however....there are times I feel that may be the only way they will 'get it'. This was not a slow acting move on the part of this person. Imagine how long it took for that halter to get to that depth alone-let alone the other issues that poor soul is having. It is so very disturbing.
Sick...
I was thinking the same thing as far as how long the poor horse had to suffer. That halter didn't get like that overnight. Smart horse for getting out though. Those two certainly have angels watching over them.

Me too...It still wouldn't be enough though. This woman needs serious mental help.

It has always irked me that laws against animal abuse are nothing more than a slap on the wrist, why is it??

Good question. In cases like this one I believe the abuser should be given much more than a slap on the wrist. To do such things to helpless creatures is appalling to say the least.

I have no idea but the charges do need to be increased.

I saw a horse like this on Animal Cops Houston, my DVM is the acting vet for Habitat for Horses and I believe was there for the case in that episode. Very disgusting. I can't stand seeing things like this. Some people should never have horses.

Abusing the abuser, being counterproductive??? Not to me, it isn't!!! Let the S.O.B. feel EXACTLY what those horses have had to feel, for just as long!!!!!!!!!!!!! See if they "get it" then!!!!! GRRR!!!!!!!!!!!

Just because it's an animal, is NO reason to let this kind of thing go with just a fine and a slap on the wrist. I think anyone who abuses anything, should have to endure their own abuse as their punishment. Even if death is involved. You betcha.....I'm heartless when it comes to people who abuse other living things. People who abuse other living things don't deserve to live IMHO.
