yes! so glad she must (hopefully) pay for the torture these animals endured!

I heard that a women who killed her children once had to look at her kids for the rest of her life in her jail cell (not sure if its true) and i think that thats what this woman needs! if convicted, she should have to be confined to a room with pictures all over of these poor animals, so she can see what she has done to them and maybe relize that its not ok. I think this would be the next best thing to what we all want to happen to her......

maybe I could call HSUS first. These poor horses, I'm not sure how long they will last. She has 2 10X10 pens with 2 horses in each. One horse had a foal in there. Don't ask me how it lived

Mr. Phillips;

I have recently been acquainted with the case of the severely neglected horses owned by Ms. Keum H. Lee, via the website of the Pets Alive Sanctuary. The condition that the horses in her possession were found in is sickening to an extent I cannot begin to express in words.

These animals did not become this ill and thin overnight. Suzi, the mare found with the halter embedded in her head, had to literally outgrow her halter. Just like a tree being girded by a wire fence, this embedding takes an extended amount of time. Ms. Lee allowed these animals to suffer in a manner that is unforgivable. I am relieved at the information that felony charges are being sought at this juncture, there must be justice for animals in cases of this nature.

The accused Ms. Lee also seems to have no understanding or regard for suffering of her charges. The PetsAlive site states that she is refusing to pay the veterinary bills for the treatment these animals so desperately need. The arrogance and ignorance shown by this is flabbergasting. I could understand an inability to pay, and some ignorance of horse husbandry, but Ms. Lee has gone far beyond that—this is willful abuse.

There is no possible reason this woman should ever see her horses again, or for that matter be allowed to own any other animal while she remains under your jurisdiction. She, like several cases local to me, will continue to treat animals in this manner. Please look into the cases of Jean Elledge in Snohomish County, Washington, and Dean Solomon in King County, Washington. Both women have been convicted of animal cruelty in recent cases involving horses. They continued to neglect for many years, Ms. Lee will as well if given the chance. Neither of these cases involved animals as horribly abused as the palomino mare, Suzi.

No horse should ever be in a condition such is this. This is an extremely noble animal that lives to serve human beings, and it is thus our duty to care for them in deference to this service.

Please continue to pursue felony charges against Keum H. Lee. People all over the country are reading about this case, and its passing with a 'slap on the wrist' would be an outrage.

Sincerely,

Kelsey Baker
Sammamish, Washington
Try appealing to the politician in these prosecutors. Tell them how the whole country is watching and THEIR names are also being watched. If they let her off, it will have a negative political impact and if they nail her butt to the wall, they will be heros in the eyes of persons all over the world. Face it, politicians need to have a benefit from any publicity and this will make or break their career. Someone also needs to get this info going locally. It amazes me how something like this could be going on next door and no one will know about it but across the country everyone knows. Anyone forwarded this to a local/regional news source? THAT would get a result, not 10,000 unimportant letters from people who have no vote where the politicians are. Maybe let a national news source know that people all around the country, maybe world, are watching for the results of this trial?

There was a demonstration on her hearing day out front of the courthouse.

Also, I personally believe that the simple fact that I live in WA and know about this, as well as referencing my local cases, gets their attention.

The rescue has been giving them tons of publicity.

Believe it or not, the internet is a powerful thing these days.

This can become more than just an abuse case of national interest. There are forum members here from around the globe. Imagine if they started getting letters from Canada, Greenland, London, Australia, Serbia etc. to name only a very few of the forum member locations I can think of off the top of my head. To think the plight of these two sorry animals can gain global attention will make them stand up and pay attention.

Please, those of you living outside the U.S. Use the addresses provided and let your outrage be known.

This is a case of abuse that is insidious on so many levels. The fact that they were initially contemplating giving the horses back to her it outrageous. The fact that she did not feel obligated in any way, shape or form, to pay for their medical expenses is arrogance beyond comprehension.

It is unforgiveable to neglect any of Gods creatures but it is done. Most people understand that they have lost the right to keep the seized animals and willingly sign them over.

This lady is expecting for everyone else to pay for her years of neglect AND THEN fully expects to get her recovered animals back again.

It is absolutely the most outrageous depiction animal ignorance and lack of compassion I have ever come across.

It simply cannot be allowed to go unpunished and it would be a crime against horses around the world, to allow the case to fall by the wayside.

We must keep up the heat.
