It's good to know that all the communication from the public was heard! But....don't get excited YET! It's not over, until after the trial and a verdict has been reached.

At least now we know that they are taking the abuse of these animals, and the outrage of the public seriously!!!! I just wish we could get ALL of them to be taken seriously!!

The pen is a mighty tool. I just hope, as I have said before, that they did not postpone this to try and take the spotlight off it and let it quietyly fade away.

I agree, great news!!
Shelley, it would be wonderful if all cases like this would be taken seriously. Hopefully with all the letter, faxes and e-mails that have poured in about these two will seal this "woman's" fate. Hopefully the grand jury will feel obligated to give this "woman" the punishment she deserves.

Me too. Hopefully with all the outrage that has been shown the court will see that this is very serious and punish accordingly.

Same here.... especially since the article specifically states that the rally's and letters got the press involved.....

I think the only reason they are even half way serious on dealing with this woman is that the press DID get involved.... so I plan on keeping track of the trial date, and will be sending the pics of those horses to every newspaper and radio station in the area..... if the media attention fades away, the prosecutor can drop the felony charges, or the review board can decide it is not a justified cost, and drop it back to misdemeanor. The only thing that is protecting those horses from going back to the suffering is the scrutiny and outrage that the prosecutors face right now..... we can't let them sweep this under the rug like so many other cases.... they get it out of the spotlight, let it sit until everyone forgets, and then sweep it under the rug..... which is probably the plan for her defense lawyer.

Our law enforcement needs to know that we are watching them.... and if they fail to do their job, we'll make an issue of it, and push for someone that is willing to do the job...... it's the only way to guarantee that this level of abuse doesn't just happen again.

I don't want to high jack the thread but I didn't want to start a new one.

What would you do if you saw some very skinny and poor taken care of horses in tiny, tiny pens that look like walking skeletons, but the state you live in doesn't have strict rules? Who would you call and how?

Call animal control and don't try to handle the situation yourself.
