| Senior Member+ | I've always kind of thought that the water made the flyspray not work as well, but if yours does, then go for it!

Alchohol evaporates much more quickly than water, and even after you scrap that off, it will give a nice cooling effect. If it's hot and you want to ride, just hose him off (and scrape) before the ride, and you'll be that much farther ahead of the game

| Senior Member+ | i agree that you can hose him off, just make sure to scrape the water off, and drench him in fly spray! lol (fly masks work too my 3yo has it in his head that the flies will eat and kill him unless he has flyspray - or what he thinks is fly spray - and somehting over his ears say hi to ollieboy for me!

| Senior Member+ | I knew there was something else I wanted to add to my post LOL...JB hit the nail on the head, you can still ride if you want, just hose and scrape first. We do that a lot of times when we have to be riding when its hot.

![]() ![]() | I agree! I regularly hose my two off...concentrating on the chest and body area where they really seem to build up heat. Then I sponge them off with Vetrolin diluted in water... the vetrolin gives a lasting cooling effect and also helps repel flies...I've not had luck spraying them when they're wet. And I personally ride in the heat... but usually a trail ride where I can get in the shade. Hosing off before a ride is not something I've tried, but think i might now!

| Senior Member+ | Is it humid or not? If it is humid, you want to dry him off pretty good. If it is not humid, the "evaporatioN" will feel good to him.
