a little progress w/ lunging.

Well I finally got Tex to lunge a circle yesterday, but he wanted to jerk away from me so I just kept working with him until he went into the circle..poor boy its going to take awhile for him to learn this...I also lead him over some ground poles which he did wonderful at, he'll be jumping very soon.! I'm also thinking about buying a round pen....b/c I know how to control a horse in one, but lunge lines are just a whole new thing for me..maybe more will come out of that!...any suggestions as far as the pulling away from me?

do you lunge him in a halter or a bridle.... if he's pulling away, he's gotta know thats not acceptable..... give the line a hard yank when ever you feel him pulling, then drop it(give it lots of slack) it works better if you have a chain or a bridle... because when they pull they are hurting themselves.

i wouldn't let him get away with it but at the same time i can tell you that i have experienced horses that are just not good on a lunge line. they constantly pull. these horses tend to be better free lunging in a round pen. maybe another thing to try is a lunge line that hooks on both sides of the halter. it gives you better control

I have one that is like that always pulling, she is fairly new to lunging, and acts like the devil is after her.
