A Good Day...COLD but good...

AH!
I'm SO EXCITED I need to share!!!
So I got up to the barna nd tacked up boy. He had a miniscule cut under his eye...poor boy, but it didn't bother him at all...and in the Spring we're unclogging that stupid tear duct so he'll stop getting runny eye...Anyways...I lunged him with his bungee for about 15 minutes and he was sososososososo Good. He bucked and galloped at first , but then was like, OK...let's do this...and I took the bungee off and hopped on and rode and at first he was like, NO! And fought me bending and everything. I was so tired from trying to bend his head in around my leg at the corners, so I gave up and we jumped a bit...tiny one and a half foot high cavaletti. lol. then We took it down after like 3 and walked...on the bit...and did shoulder ins...ugly ones, but shoulder ins...and then I trotted and he stretched his head into the bit and had IMPULSION So I gave him a pat and said "Good boy" and gave him a loose rein and changed direction. Walked a bit more and then asked him for a trot. After jsut 2 minutes, BAM. On the BIT! Almsot a whole time around and I COULD feel his end pushing...I WAS SO STOKED! I feel like all my hard work is beginning to pay off...those of you who are imemdiately like, EVIL BUNGEE , please understand I just started using the bungee this summer and it was recommended by my Dressage trainer who is EXCELLENT with the horses and really told me how to get him like this. I've been working Bandit on this for 2 years and He IS JUST picking it up because we went slow so he'd do it RIGHT...I DON'T rely on the bungee because when used PROPERLY, you get results like this and I'm extremely happy. He seems comfortable doing it and I don't have to see saw or do anything extreme. I jsut use my seat and bend him in circles or corners to get his neck muscles working...

BUT today was SUCH a huge step and I have a lesson tomorrow and CANNOT wait to show my instructor. I may go to my first RECOGNIZED combined test this spring since he's on the bit and jumping well...I've waited 4 long years and we're finally moving up. I love my pony...

thanks OSAGE!!!! lol. Yeah...confused me at first too...I was like...ON THE BIT?!?! BUNGEE?!?! But now I know...lol...the bungee is basically a bungee you sue to tie things down with. it's pure elastic and it lets him pull and find a comfortable spot. REALLY great. Expecially for him because it helps his muscles
