Question A comfy approved helmet! Is this possible???

Alright guys here's the deal...I will soon be in need of a new helmet. Right now I have an unapproved helmet that fits like a glove and is soooooo comfy. I really hate to see it go but it is starting to look a little ratty and it has been through a few bumps and bruises with me. I am of the belief that an approved helmet is not necessarily better than an unapproved-it just depends on what kind of accident you have. But I figured that I better get with the program and get an approved helmet. The problem is that when I try on helmets at the local tack shop none of the approved helmets(of thier somewhat limited stock), even the really expensive ones, were horribly uncomfortable. They were hard when I put them on and not comfortable AT ALL. Plus they were so heavy I couldn't imagine how anyone could wear one and not be distracted by it.

Anyways here's the deal if I can't find one that is comfortable, lightwieght and has a low profile I will go back and get another unaproved helmet, the same one I have now. Is there such a thing as a comfortable, lightweight and low profile approved helmet????

A Bit Above Tack shop is having a 40% off sale. I found this helmet there....it is a John Whitaker helmet. But I heard this place is bad with refunds so I don't want to get the helmet only to return it. So is this helmet any good??? Any comments? Here is the link...

Any other helmets that are any good? I really wouldn't spend any more than around $160.

Wow I'd be no help here. I have 2 helmets right now, my old white (yellow now) one that has molded to my head and my new one that's so UNCOMFORTABLE!

Harli...I have an Equi-lite helmet. It has a dial in the back, and I can get it pretty comfy.

It was in-expensive. Valleyvet has it now for 29.95

Also certified.

Depends on what kind you want. If you want a show one, I really don't know. But for schooling I have a simpel Troxel which is very comfortable and cheap and works really well.

I have an awesome helmet (it's a show helment) I paid a good penny for it, but I can find it cheaper than where I bought it, I just needed it for the next day and didnt have time to ship it in for the show..
It's so comfortable....I literally love wearing that helmet!

Mine is comfortable, it's getting a bit small now so i sorta get a ring across my head after wearing it, lol. It is a safe approved one and it is comftorble, it takes a while to wear them in but after that they are fine.
