Do you happen to know when they may be going to auction? I just posted a message asking about this to one of the MI boards I am on. May try to get one... even getting one is better than them all ending up where they shouldn't. But this should have never happened in the first place. AC is as bad as the rest of MI - looking for money where it has no right to and going down the cra-pper in a hurry.

They are going to be auctioned at the Napoleon Livestock Auction. I'm pretty sure that the phone number is listed, but I'll look it up and post it tomorrow so that interested people can call. This is within 30 minutes of my house. The horse community here has been outraged at the condition of the horses and the severity of neglect. I hope that these horses find good homes. It sounds like there are some good quality horses from nice lines that were worth quite a bit of money, so there should be some great deals for those who are looking for speed and contesting prospects.

Omg i am sooo sooo sorry that these people are having to go thru this! Can you imagine what horses that really need the help are going thru... I am ashamed to say that i watch miami animal cops and other shows such at that on animal planet but, now i feel as if i have been lied to ! There is no way that the horses in the pictures were in deaths door! I wish there was something i could do to help them.

I to would not be handing any thing over to the people that STOLE my animals. It just goes to show that there are tooo many people out there that can only see a dollar sign. My heart breaks for these wronged owners, Please watch your animals closely! WHO knows when they will knock on your door next.... Wonder if there was an over jealous neighbor that wanted to see them hurt? None of it makes sence...

Why weren't these owners able to find an outraged attorney who would take on this case? This just sounds like such an injustice. I don't see why something couldn't have been done way back there to have kept this situation from snowballing. I'm not saying the owners didn't try, but why would they "sign over" the horses to AC? Didn't they sign away any rights as far as protesting to the situation's outcome? I might have unscrupulous AC people pick up a horse, but I for d*** sure wouldn't sign anything they presented to me. We have Stormyheart's post about the dogs being taken out of the owner's yard and euthanized because they were the wrong color, then posts about other horses being picked up on what appears to be the whim of AC. Now, that's scary sounding!! It has to be stopped or what happens next? This is SUPPOSED to be America where people have rights.

And, let me add that lots of people around here reported for years a particular person who would keep buying horses and then not feed them all winter. They would just die and be lying all around the pastures. The man had money, just didn't want to feed them. I guess when you are into drugs and are an alcoholic, feeding your horses just isn't high on your list of priorities. Anyway, AC did diddly as far as curbing this guy. They never picked up horses, they never barred him from owning or buying more horses--nothing. Now there is a case where they should have stepped in but were less than useless!!

The owners had a good attorney, who did his job very well. The judge did NOT do his job. They are hiring a new attorney... Who is very good at his job as well.

I emailed Mr. Treacher about the auction, begging him not to auction, but private sale the horses as a "rescue" should do. He sent me back a very very tacky reply stating that the horses would not be auctioned and that I was misinformed. This was just another in a long line of lies this man has fed to everyone.

My computer crashed and I haven't been able to get on here. It's killing me

The horse community was outraged... WHY?? Because of the lies AC put out there. However, that is changing as the truth comes out.

Also, realize ALL of the pictures on The Truth About The Grass Lake Horses came from THE PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE in Jackson County. These aren't pictures the men took to paint themselves in a good light. These were all part of their "investigation" for crying out loud.

It is an injustice, bottom line. No one is SAFE now, anywhere.

I'm not one of the defendant's but I am IN THE KNOW. I've seen everything, the good/bad/ugly. The farm was messy especially in front of the facilities (where horses weren't kept) and the aisleway was trashed from winter and Matt doctoring the horse's leg, hay strings etc...

They had a good attorney. The reality is that with the judge, they could've had the Pope or Jesus himself testify and it wouldn't have mattered. He passed the issue onto appeals and a higher court. All to save his political butt. Sad sad sad

I am tending to believe the ranch in this case,,,,..........
NOT because of what I am reading here or there but mostly because photochik, whom opened this can on here has not posted or logged in since 6-14. I find that rather odd really. If she is SOOO outraged by what she SAW........ you would think she could provide us with more.
But there is obviously only lies and she doesn't want to get caught with her panties down. For shame photochik.

For someone that claims to have been on the Ranch it is interesting... Even animal control didn't say there were bodies everywhere... and They DID NOT LET VOLENTEERS on the site... unless they were already with the rescue group... so as someone who has also learned that it is best to be informed before casting stones... I say believe nothing that you hear and only half of what you see... and I look on GLHorseTruth The court transcripts do not lie. Plus they have the pictures that the Animal control took of the horses... and SEEING is believeing!
