6 weeks, and I'm riding Timmy!

As some of you know, I bought my 5 year old gelding and he was GREEN, GREEN, GREEN! Much more so than the owners told me.

Well, after a lot of ground work, lunging with tack, ground driving (actually on two days and we both got bored). I've been riding him both in and out of the round pen in his halter. It's awesome to be on his back.

I am also noticing his pedigree coming into play (Grandaddy is in Hall of Fame for Reining) - this horse spins on a dime, moves like a locomotive with the slighest leg tounc, and stops like he hit a brick wall.

I originally thought I's use him for barrels, and if I knew anything about reining, or could afford a trainer, I'd put him in that.

The other great thing is, he came to me looking a bit frail as he had not been worked in a very long time - he's muscling up like a bodybuilder on steroids! Even my boss mentioned his improvement.

I'm so stoked that after all these years with horses, I remembered enough to start him right. And, thanks to the many great people here, offering tips, I'm positive he's gonna stomp the competition if I ever decide to actually run him.

YIPPPPEEEEEE!
