Well, I dident gwt to ride her last night because the idiots that brought the round bales put one in the pasture. Ive been keeping it out and parting it to them because it lasts twice as long.

So, it took me about an hour to get all of the hay out of the pasture... which left it almost dark and too late to ride and get home to get Dustin in bed on time.

BUT!! I did ride her this morning and she got it!!!!!

It wasent the normal walk really really slow and feel kinda tipsy and unsure of herself. It wasent the stop every few feet and look at everything in the world except for me.

It was more of a "O, we're walking... okay, I can do that" She was amazing! She felt SO much more confident and balenced under me. She kept an ear back and listened to me the entire time and KEPT on walking.

She stoped when I asked... stopped on a dime I might add, but she stopped and dident move. I stopped her and talked to a friend for a minute, just seeing how long she would stand. She did pretty good, but wanted to walk, so I stopped her a few times, but then rewarded her by letting her walk and asking her to move forward.

AND we did our very first tight turn to both sides and she did wonderful again. It was a total, balenced, concentrated turn like she has been doing it for years

She will have tomorrow off- wish that she dident, but I have to go to SC to be with my mom

Life happens, doesn't it? LOL

Good intentions do count, though. At least in my book!

I know how you feel. When getting a start on a young horse, it can be important to be consistent with their training. But, you do the best you can and work with what you have. It will all come out in the wash anyway.

Hope you get time to work with her soon. I'm sure she won't disappoint you.

Sounds like you guys are doing good together. I am doing most of the same things with my 4 year old mare. She just had her first ride last Sunday (I just posted a video of it). Can't wait to see your video!
