goodness that poor thing has had some bad neglect. He needs to be on a milk replacer diet asap and get some good nutrition into him. Normally I wouldnt be massively concerned about milk replacer for a 4 month old but this colt clearly hasnt ever had enough nutrition, it almost looks like he stopped developing at a month old due to lack of proper care.

Would/could I use goat milk replacer?

He does look VERY stunted. I would take him to a vet ASAP and get their reccomendation. Its very important with a developing baby so you can resolve his problems before they get too bad. You also have to worry about OCD...something....What is it called someone? Its something about the bones/joints and glucose..buts it a developmental problem if you push weight on them too fast. I think a vet is definitely needed considering his age.

No, you can get foal milk replacers or milk pellets and they are much better. I would agree with having a chat with a qualified nutritionist as well though.

I haven't heard of using goat replacement for a foal, but I have heard of using real goats milk. Do you have any goat breeders around you?

Oh and I've fed baby goats replacement formula and it didn't do too great of a job for them so I doubt I'd use it for a foal.
