That is one of the bits I use on my reiners. Heck it does not matter what I put in my mares mouth she works the same. However I agree in your case. Do not change bits now.

Just clean up what you already have down. No point in pushing him too far. Good luck and have someone video tape you!

P.S. Have someone qualified come out and "judge" you wile practicing. Never, ever change your demeanor from training to showing. EVERYTHING should be exactly the same. If your bit/horse's age allow it, use two hands and work on keeping their perfect position. Constantly be chanting in your head "eyes up, shoulders back, back straight, heels down, legs back." Showing is about how you've TRAINED your horse, not about what he can do (mostly). Treat a show as if you're training in pretty attire

Again with the questions haha
When a horse is performing a rollback, are they actually supposed to pivot?

Yes. A rollback is an abrupt 180 haunch turn from a lope. Basically Lope, stop, turn, lope. Just keep it clean and fluid. Don't worry about speed. As long as it's clean it will impress the judge.

Well guys here's an update:
Ernie and I didn't place in reining, there were just too many really nice horses. But we did place 7\10 in western pleasure pairs. My partner wasn't very helpful but we placed I guess.
AND
I placed 6\8 in 3 y/o quarter horse filly halter with "Chloe" [Zip Me A Hot One], the horse I borrowed for production from my cousin. She and I also placed 3\15 in 3 y/o western futurity. What's exciting about this is that I do not own her, therefore in order to practice I'd go to my cousin's house to ride her. She's trained differently than my own horses so it's almost like I had to learn how to ride all over again. I've never been to states before so this was a great opportunity. I met lots of really nice people and some other not so nice ones :] haha. I also got to see how horses performed from other counties that aren't included in our District show. Well I just thought I'd let y'all know how it went, I'll shut up now before I start rambling. lol.
