the feed we use is Acco Feeds Golden Age Senior - not a sweet feed, but it does have molasses in it, you may want to look it up on line and have the vet look at the ingredients in it.

It is a pellet that is high in fiber (since most elder horses can't eat hay) high fat and low in starch and carbs (perfect for a diabetic).

I'll talk to my vet, and see what she says. Thanks. She can eat hay, we give her grass, alfalfa hay, and she seems to eat it just fine

Congratulations to this mare who found such a wonderful owner. I am always shocked and appalled at what other human beings (and I use the term loosely) can do to these incredible noble and loyal creatures. All 3 of mine will remain with me until the end. They will never have to worry about hunger or thirst. My mule was a rescue and I promised him he'd never see the inside of an auction house. I just can't understand how people do the things they do to animals.
Sorry...I'm rambling...this subject gets me going!!
Anyway
GREAT JOB!!

Congrat's on your new family member. Have you tried Calf Manna? That might put some weight on it. I saw it on another post, if you can find it, I can't seem to. Good luck with it!!!!!

To all of you who helped me with my rescue pony, i just wanted to thank you. She is doing well, and she has put on quite a bit of weight, and in two weeks she will be moving to her new home with my aunt. Then she will have A LOT of friends to play with. Thank you again.

Rice bran has very little sugar, and is high in fat. BOSS [black oil sunflower seeds] is good for putting weight on, as well as beet pulp..

Well whatever you do don't use the new Weight Builder by Farnam the horses hate it because it stinks and I am guessing it probably don't taste good either but anyways they won't eat it so don't waste your money on it.
