3/4 appaloosa 1/4 arabian, buckskin??

i was told that my new filly would be a (darker) buckskin.
Right now she seems too dark for that to happen, she does have a few very light hairs all over her but unless you are right upon her, you can't see them.
she also hasn't shed yet, this is her first winter, but i've read arabians shed less in comparison to other breeds.
Is it possible for her to change that drastically?, either way i'm okay w/ her color--just curious:

this is her color in spring/summer when she sheds out

definitely a dark golden palomino...
I wonder what color the baby is going to end up being as well since he also looks like he's chestnut colored...hmmm

The horse in the OP is likely a wild bay. What color were the parents?

The horses in the 2nd post are a tough call with top choice going to flaxen sorrel (with seasonal sooty) and second choice to bay silver. Don't buy palomino personally.

Osage, your baby looks like a sooty palomino to me.

I am seeing wild bay

(Could you please post the color and photos of the sire and dam?)

See the top one? The black by her front pasterns is the sign I used since I can't see much of her mane or tail.

i don't have pics of her parents. I was just told that her father was 1/2 appaloosa/arabian and mother was full arabian.
You can see a little in the 2nd pic on my org. post, that she has red in her mane as well (pic reflects it @ the end of her mane, but the tips of her entire mane are red...quite pretty i think). I am sure she'll lighten up but i didn't think it possible to lighten as much as they (previous owners) mentioned. I personally think she has more arabian in her than 1/4...she's a sweet horse, but def* has her preferences & will let them be known...moreso to my husband than I...i spend more time w her so she "likes" me better!

The ends of her mane are sunbleached

Hey osage! My neighbor had a colt like this... she thought he was a chestnut too, until his legs turned color... then we found out he's a silver bay. Your mare is light, but I'm sure she is one. You can definately tell the foal is in the second pic down. Tell tale signs are the darker legs and the dark grayish hairs in the main...

She's actually 3/4 Arabian if mom was full Arabian and dad was half. That also means that there is less than a 1/4 chance that she is buckskin as Arabs don't have that dilution gene and it would have had to have come from the sire's Appaloosa parent (which could have been any color so that's why I say less than 1/4).

I agree Appylvr. I have seen some sooty chestnuts like this, but more often it is silver bay.
