2yr old stud colt in w/ Yearling colt

hi , I have a 2 year old stud colt and a yearling colt, I would like them to be together in the same feild . What are your thoughts on this ? I have had the 2 year old in the ring on a halter and lead and let the little guy run around him and check each other out but the two yr old seemed more that interested in him , tried to mount him once .I have had a stallion and a gelding together before but the stallion grew up with the older gelding ..My concern is the 2 yr old running the little guy in the ground . Any Ideas on the best way to introduce this or should I just forget it , wait till the little guy is bigger and gelded .. Thanks

try it. you can always seperate them again if they get to s********, or limit the together time, assuming they are seperate now......

Well, if there are no mares around....no biggie.

My client runs yearlings and 2 yr olds together all the time.

Yep, let them figure it out...as long as no one is getting hurt. They will play with each other by mounting, biting etc. I had my 2 year old in with some 3 yr. olds at one time and he held his ground....all stallions too.

I used to work at a breeding farm (I use that term very loosely) and thier colts usualy ran with each other all the times. Stallions in the wild will sometimes run in Bachelor groups even.

I know people who do it all the time. Like with any new turnout buddies, just keep an eye on them at first to make sure no one hurts eachother.

my friend had her 2 year old stud or with a yearling stud and she didn't have any problems at all with them. they even became good buddies. they would nip on each other. it was cute. when you put them together at first keep an eye on them. i would put them together for little bit at a time, so they get use to each other fist, then once they know each other, then you can just keep them together. i wish you luck with them.
