2nd place in our first ever ARABIAN NATIVE COSTUME class! *pics*

Yeah, like the title says, lol

We are the comeback kids. A month of lameness, a really yucky show, and now a great show. yay.

So today at the West Mich. AHA Unrated show (our 3rd show ever) we had SUCH a great time. I rode in the Native Costume class with a costume I made myself and we won 2nd place, I was so happy and surprised! Jezebelle, being that she's young, still has issues with canter leads and so I was VERY happy when she picked up the right one every time!

To quote my (sarcastic) brother: "It's like dress-up...with a horse involved...you're just a little girl inside." He's right. But seriously. It was WAY COOL FUN. At this show they always play Sting's song "Desert Rose" over the loudspeakers while the class goes, which only adds to it.

Halfway through the class a rider was bucked off and the horse headed right for me and Jezebelle. Then the poor girl (who was really sore) was yelling, "He's a stallion! Watch out!" And I was TERRIFIED...walked away real quick, FAR away. Once they grabbed him the class went on without incident.

I rode in 2 other classes, and my trainer rode 2 classes for me. I didn't think I'd like just being on the rail, but in the end I decided to have him do it and I'm glad I did.

I got 4th of 4 in English Pleasure JR horse (very strong class, and judge didn't like her nonexistent headset and bulldozer transitions)

And 6th out of 8 in Saddleseat Equitation. In spite of a blown canter lead. The judge said I was a "Very pretty rider". I was just so happy I placed at all and having her say that was great. Because I've only been riding for about a year now and i was up against people who have a lot more experience than that.

My trainer got 3rd in a very strong Saddleseat Pleasure class, and 6th in the championship EP class.

More photos:

I still need to sit up straighter....

Now that's some SERIOUS trot for a half-belgian... (that's my trainer on board)

Thanks for looking!

I made it myself, tip to tail. I intend to add more 'bling' as time goes on and budget allows. Trims and stuff ain't cheap! I think the color worked out stunning for us, although red would have been really nice too.
The saddle blanket is a silky-satiny material, as are my pants. My trainer was all, "you're going to ride on THAT?" and I was like yep, it's not so bad and he just said, "well, you're a brave woman...remember to keep your heels down, that's all i can say."
