Thumbs down $2500 for papers?!

Well, I finally got a hold of Porscha's breeder.

He wants me to pay $2500 for her papers.

I guess the guy who had her before me never paid for her, or finished his end of the deal with tractor work.

But, I did find out her who dam was. Electrika BA or Electrica BA, he said he didn't remember how he spelled it. Anyone with Datasource access - can you see who she is? She's not on allbreed.

I can understand him wanting the money, since he basically got screwed out of a horse, but it's frustrating for me.

I told him all I was interested in was the AHA Riding Programs, but he won't waver on it - $2500 for the papers, and then $500 to register her.

Blah.

Poor Porscha. She's destined to be a grade horse.

Bleh!! Maybe if you just say "whatever" then offer him $750 12-18 months from now, maybe he'll take it. I mean, that number seems unreasonable for something that ISN'T your fault, but if he has another year to sit on it maybe he'll figure something is better than nothing.

Sue him. I'm not a sue-happy person by any means, but didn't the sale include papers on her? Does the bill of sale state it? If I remember correctly you had a 3rd person (i.e. witness) to this correct?

The guy I bought her from said yes, she had papers. HOWEVER, the contract I wrote up said if she didn't have papers I could return her So I screwed myself out of them.

Norman, the grey my friend bought, ended up having papers and my friend got them.

Porscha didn't, because the guy never did the tractor work for her breeder, where he got her.

Was she ever actually registered but the transfer papers were never done or is she just able to be registered?

He has all the papers, forms, etc. He just won't turn them in/sign them without the $2500. He never turned in the stallion report, etc, so he said I'd have to then pay the fee to get her registered.

Did he own the stallion or the mare she's out of/by?

Both, stallion and mare.

Mike says I can go after the person who sold her to me, and have him pay to get the papers. He said he sold them to me with the guarantee they have papers.

However, there is that part in the contract about "if horses aren't registered, they can be returned for a full refund". I'm afraid of losing my horse.

That really stinks. I understand that this guy is wanting money, and never got paid for the original deal, but when did that become YOUR problem? What a crock.
