2008 has to be better!

UGH... I got to thinking...I have seen our vet EVERY MONTH since Feb. this year...its been one animal after another. ARG!

Here's the list...

Feb- Spirit-Sick Vet came out bill-around 60ish dollar -Spirit didnt make it though.
March-Dandy's shots- approx $45
April- 2 goats sick with coccidiosis- Had to get meds from the vet which ment seeing him in the office and talking to him. approx $25-30
May- My lovely horse decided he'd cut his hoof and leg open. Vet came out. $99.00 And get this....I told mom while we were waiting on him to get here that I hoped it'd be under $100.... Shoulda said I wish it was under 75.
June- Dandy thought it'd be fun to escape, eat pure alfalfa hay which he's not use to, and get into my goat grain that contained Provider 38 Dairy pellet for cows... So that ment a trip to the vets to get banamine and then got oil in him...That was approx $30
July- Im not saying anything...Dont want to jinx myself...

Anyone else having a bad year?

I'm having a good year!
Have only seen the vet once for the puppy's shots.

Hope July goes better for you!

I was having a really good year until Tuesday night when my mare coliced.

A NORMAL vet trip out to us is $100 before they even see the horse, and on Tuesday it was outside office hours. And he came twice *cringes*
Plus another two nights at the equine hospital for observation.

So we're up to $500 just for the first two trips...so add another couple of hunderd. In one go *cringes again*

Well...I jinxed myself.

I have a goat going to the vets office today, appointment at 12:30.

UGH When will it end!

The goat some how cut/scrape the inside of her vulva, dont ask how we have NO clue how she managed that. Then today I cleaned her up she coughed and brownish/reddish fluid came out and it didnt appear to be from the wound. She's never been bred so I know for a fact she's not aborting or going into labor. My guess she has an infection. Poor girl. Guess we'll see what the vet says today...Im afraid to know the bill...

Wow! Hope you dont have to go through that.

Here its $45 farm call, $60 if its emergency (after hours or on a sunday) He doesnt charge extra or atleast he didnt for us when he came after hours because we called him while he was in the office. They closed at 12noon on Saturday, we called by then and he came out around 7:30-8:00 that night...btw-That was for Dandy back in May....

I'm up to over $2000 this year alone in vet calls... And that doesn't count the things I've 'taken care of' on my own. Like milk fever in one of my does or numerous awful cuts etc.

But I will say that this year so far, is BETTER than last year.

Ok well I wont complain about todays vet bill...Only cost me $10! Cant beat that. woohoo! Now think if I had him come out it would have been $55.00 to tell me to keep an eye on her versus $10...Lol.

Wow 2000$ thats alot. I really hope 2008 is better.
