![]() | I have a newforest gelding, and hes in with my friends welsh mare. I am soon (in a few days) getting 2 shetland stallions...My friend is havng one, and i the other. My friend thinks that this is a stupid idea, and thinks that somehow her mares going to end up getting pregnant! I own 2 fields, an acre meadow, and then tht attaches to another mini field full of badger holes, and that leads into my 3 acre field. The 2 horses now r in the 3 acre, and in the winter they r going into the acre meadow, and the 2 shetlands r having a bit of grass which will b cornered off by electic fencing, they wiull go in ther, and theyl have a astable to into as well. Wat is wrong with this iddea? because they can noway escape to get into the 3 acre part. My friend always rides her mare throght th acre padock bareback then tacks her out in the yard, will the stallions go mad if ther is a flirty mare by them for like 1 min?? plz help |

![]() | hey, i am da girl which is having one of the shetlands, hello tam. well the two shetland stallions are brothers and have lived together all of their lives (they are only four) and they are a pair bond, that is why they are to go to a new home together and they are fine around each other. and they are gonna b gelded as soon as possible. |

![]() | I am glad to hear that you are gelding the ponies. There is no nead to keep them as stallions unless they are of breeding quality. Young stallions can be very determined to get to mares especially durring breeding season. the breeding farm i work at has a few stallions and the stallions go out one at a time durring the day when they can be watched in the stallion field which is wood fencing with high voltage electric on at all times. It is not worth the trouble or the aggrivation to keep them them un-cut unless you are breeding them. |
