2 Day Event, fantastic results!! Videos are up!

Okay, to start off this was Cita and I's first time out to a show this year and our second event EVER. I just took her in at Entry level (2'9".) We got there friday night, Emma helped me braid before we left and she looked fantastic. I took her out did our w/t/c, leg yeilds, counter canter, etc and she was perfect!

Dressage was first on Saturday, took her out about 50 mins before the test for warm up. A little bit less relaxed to start off with but settled in well, neither of us were anything but confident! It's the first time I've entered the dressage arena with no nerves, it felt great! She was getting a tad pissy once we were next to go in and in the holding area. She likes to get down to business and can get impatient. She was coming behind the verticle, being sticky but I wasn't too concerned. It took another 10 minutes for the judge to ring the bell, further ******* her off but we entered the arena very nicely and the first half of the test was GREAT! 7's and a few 8's even which is a huge leap from last year. We bombed the walk, she was pissy again and didn't want to step out and through so I ended up over riding trying to get that. She broke the walk between B and F as she has been doing, then she swung her hind quarters IN IN and that was a bit messy. More me over riding, her resisting some leg and then we settled back in to end with a few 7's. She did have her quarters in a bit for most of the test, but it's much better then it has been. She has absolute hissy fits when you try and get her straight but it's definately coming along in leaps and bounds! I was overall happy with it, especially myself as I didn't ever feel mad at her, I rode through the entire thing with a level head, a big step for me. We got 63. something percent so 54.8 penalties. It was a three way tie for 5th after dressage.

Show jumping went really well, I'm always weary jumping her over smaller courses because she tends to just skim the jumps and will pull rails. Once they're 3' plus we get effort. So I kept her to more of a hunter pace, added in all the lines but went clear so I was again happy! We got a deep spot to 6 and 8, she really moved herself out of the way for 8 (what a horse!) My fault! Tied with just one other person for 5th after that.

Cross country was great, she did everything perfectly and it was clear! We finished 4th out of 20 in an open division, I was so proud!

June 6th/7th we're going pre-training (3' and they are allowed to add in 3/4 jumps at 3'3".) I'm totally comfortable with the show jumping and cross country, really excited actually but we've got to really buckle down our dressage!!

Here are a few pictures, I'm uploading the dressage and show jumping videos on you tube and I'll post them up as soon as they're loaded! I had a very crooked helmet, very embarrassing! I'm not sure why it's like that because it's tight enough to squeeze my brains out by not so tight it doesn't fit! It's not a very deep helmet though..

Well done - excellent results for you and the horse - she looks very keen over the jumps!

Never done any competing but it sure looks fun and I am sure there is a LOT of work that goes into it (just getting and keeping your horse fit!)

So well done great effort!
